Oda wrote that statement that Luffy can defeat kaido, he doesn't mentioned it was group work but all about luffy twice in row.
Gaban trashing luddy was meant show old gaban is stronger than luffy. Post 1190 chapters luffy wlukd get stronger because he need get coc boost up like Gaban level at minimum to fight Imu.

In most cases I think it's just the admiral hateboner overpowering the Sanji hateboner(for a brief instance)

Ah the Loki fans aren’t going to be happy. Gabans Haki attack didn’t just hurt Imu, it seemingly overpowered Imus stigma. The attack that finished Loki off.

There is a reason though Oda still saved Hybrid Loki, although Loki doesn't have real reason not using it in fight he ended up losing
It is as if Loki got clapped before even have the chance to use his hybrid

But okay, let's pretend Oda saved hybrid Loki because it is so strong
Prime Gaban > hybrid Loki > old, injured Gaban > non hybrid Loki + Ragnir
