#1
Imu at the start of the chapter after just swinging his axe
weezing crazy going extreme diff with outside mj air

Casually parried gaban s mantis bozo style yet he starts bleeding and trembling

Gaban s kamudo and 8000 tribals again doesnt go past his omen shield yet he bleeds again

U can clearly see the slash bouncing of the shield
Long story short gaban didnt harm imu once
All this time it was his extreme diff battle with outside air

Gaban didn’t do well at all, people are lying to themselves because of their Loki psychosis. Imu was distracted the entire chapter, and this is the first time that we’ve seen Imu’s nerf be addressed again. Conveniently, the only time that Gaban’s attack “damaged” Imu is when the latter was trying to kill Luffy. Very likely that Imu just didn‘t block in time since we don’t see any other attack connect on him later.

“The first time it was addressed again” does not make logical or grammatical sense, by the way. Imu’s nerf was presented to us prior to him fighting anyone. We see blood coming out of his mouth from the moment he left MJ. Unless we are to believe it was conveniently paused until the Gaban fight, then no, it was always in effect.

Also, when Imu coughs in this chapter, we literally get a panel right after where we see that his face is completely clean of any blood. The only time he bleeds again is after Gaban’s final assault. Am I to believe he coughed off panel and magically started bleeding from his head, which has never been the way Oda visually represented the environmental damage he takes?

And this thing about Gaban catching him off guard, well, they all did. Loki and Luffy hit him while he was off guard as well. But even in the panel where he is supposedly blindsided, we see him with his guard up and an Omen barrier, as the Haki attack pings off of it. Though some of this attack does get through, as we see him damaged and clearly grimacing from the impact. Then Imu turns his attention fully to Gaban as he launches his final attack.

Oda then chooses to draw a close up of Imu’s eye, where we see blood streaming down from his head. He follows it by showing Gaban’s condition, which is a dramatic way to first show the damage Imu suffered from the attack, then contrast it with the price Gaban had to pay to accomplish this. It’s visually consistent and easy to understand. You just don’t want to understand it.

It's a possibility

It's also weird that if the CoC alone injure him why the slashing attack following up doesn't do shit, that's actually the main attack which also look alot more devastating and powerful.....
This could also mean Imu wasn't fully prepared enough to block that initial CoC as he was focus on Luffy or was getting outspeed (he was in the middle of trying to cast Stigma as seen)

Whatever it maybe,
Gaban feats was over the top, cutting those Adam wood (one of the hardest and toughest substance in op) that are big as Elbaf mountains.
By funny size scaling, old Gaban could have cut Onigashima, Marineford, God Valley etc into several pieces lol
:Shadow_Unimpressed:

And on the other hand, all that and shit.
In the end it's a few drop of blood, and Imu doesn't seem to react that much either.

why is imu huffing after swinging the axe and trembling ?
why is he randomly bleeding from his mouth when gaban didnt land an hit with his mantis style?
no slash got past his shield

Doesn’t sound like you’re arguing much with me. I never argued that Gaban didn’t injure Imu. I’m saying that he got injured right around the time that he was purposefully ignoring Gaban. We can logically conclude that Imu never fully blocked the first hit because he was distracted like all of the times that he’s been hit. We see a closeup of him with the shield up later and none of Gaban’s attacks were going through.

I brought up the nerf part in case anybody would argue that he bled from the Mantis attack lol.
