Is Gaban a quitter ?

Overreacting. Luffy is an ant to Imu still. Every time he comes in direct confrontation, he gets send flying and L'oki intervenes with Gabum telling Luffy to wrap it up and run.

Right now I find Luffy shockingly weak, it's crazy how much stronger L'oki is looking and that's without his hybrid. I want to assume his early arc injuries are no issue anymore otherwise it gets too crazy.

But yeah, Imu is certainly not moving like a typical EOS Shonen villain would. If he shows off another transformation and doesn't accomplish a thing that's kinda embarrassing.
What did Loki accomplish on his own? Imu was barely fazed by a direct hit from his lightning attack, didn't even put up a shield until he saw Luffy.

And what injuries he does take he seemingly healed by the mid point of the chapter.

While only getting hit like....twice. one of those being the hit at the start of the chapter, and the other being the one at the END, with him blocking or dodging everything else relatively easily. Like, he got sent flying by the big combo attack, recovered, Loki came in swinging repeatedly, he dodges. Luffy comes in? He counters with Omen bombs and blocks Luffy's attack. Then blocks even harder to the point Luffy hurts HIMSELF. Then follows up and slaps Luffy through a tree (or embeds him into it?). Then Loki tries to launch a big attack (which doesn't seem like it would do much on its own), and Luffy jumps into it to try to get extra force or something to punch through/sneak past Imu's defence and land another hit.

And 99.99% that won't do much either. He really doesn't look that bad, its just optics because of how strong we think he should logically be, and how Oda probably shouldn't be letting people get hits on him like that.....even if only the strongest characters are doing ANYTHING useful and Imu just heals straight away, it LOOKS bad, even if on paper its not.
Its the same old same old fake out shit.
Pretty much this. Lots of bruising, concerned expressions, white eyes etc but no actual serious stuff.

We also gotta remember he's fighting an actual gauntlet of top tiers....and frankly I still think Loki at least is in the "demigod tier" above the rest at least based on flashback scaling (old Gaban having better performance in terms of doing damage is mainly old man tax).

Luffy despite being hurt was also heavily emphasized at first as being overfed to the point of total confidence so he would be boosted too.

So yeah Imu is doing pretty okay, outside of Haj any one of the three characters he's fought in his gauntlet would make your average top tier struggle (at least) and then there's Loki/overfed Luffy who should be above that level imho.

To add, I'm curious if this is also going to be another EH Kizaru scenario where people will clown on him only for Oda to reveal important context confirming that he was nerfed.

Its going to be daijobu.
Oda is a schizo though, I said it in the waiting room but he wants his cake and eat it too.

He wants to portray Imu as someone that cannot be beaten yet and needs a specific set of things to beat (Rogers words about the one to take Imu down surpassing them and the one they are waiting for, Xebec gathering ancient weapons and searching for two specific fruits, Gaban still in this very chapter telling them to gtfo) but then at the same time hes shown getting hit left and right, his shield pierced, etc.

It doesnt compute.

This disconnect is very jarring.

It's largely because Oda doesn't care about being consistent when it comes to fights and powers that I have completely lost interest in the fights, as well as in power level discussions, knowing that it didn't matter since any consistency has died long ago

CoC: Color of Clowns

"No... gonna steal it back..."
They dont. Limu will walk it off with some bleeding from the mouth.

Thats not the issue though.
I think after this engagement, Imu's going to eat one God's Knight (I think it's Sommers), and a good amount of Slave Souls in order to heal up on his Soul/Sin Points.

I think a really interesting part of this fight actually connects back to the defeat of Marcus Mars in Egghead:

Gear 5 Bonney + Franky + Sanji kicking into Luffy really isn't that much straight damage. What yeets Mars here is Luffy's ridiculous ability to absorb and then redirect force. Here, in Punk Hazard, he says he can double the force: I'm willing to bet it's an increased multiplier when he's in Gear 5:

So... my question is, did Mars go back to Marijoa because of damage? Or because of distance?

Once again, Franky, Sanji, and Gear 5 Bonney is NOT anywhere near some of the strongest combo attacks we've seen in the series. I don't think Mars took a ton of damage.

I think the distance from the Magical Circles used to summon the Gorosei by Saturn is why Mars returned to Marijoa

There's no way these Magic Circles have infinite range.

I think it might be impossible to actually damage Imu enough to get him out of the country with raw damage, and that's what Gaban is pretty much trying to tell everybody.

BUT, if Shuri tells the Crew, "Hey, you don't need to kill Imu to get him out of here... if you knock him further enough away from the Magic Circle he came in through, he'll be forced back to Marijoa!" suddenly, there's a legit way out of this fight.

I think Mars showed us the key.

The secret to beating Imu here isn't hurting him, it's knocking him far away enough from the Magic Circle in Aurust Castle, so he's forced to teleport back to Castle Pangea.

So, in this case, we'd need someone to hold Imu in place (Ragnir Ice?) and then have multiple top tiers whalop Luffy until his Balloon has enough air in it to yeet Imu out of the stratosphere.

I would really like this, because it would be a legit defeat of Imu in Elbaph, without them defeating him through direct combat, keeping his aura. Gaban would be correct, they can't BEAT him, so, why not YEET him?

I will laugh so hard if Usopp turns into Sogeking and literally slingshots Imu out of the country and back to Marijoa. Oda's building up something with Usopp.

Tbh the combo attack in this chapter would likely one shot any top tier. Loki insane raw power released in a single concentrated point (+ Luffy own G5 strenght). Kaido got floored from a punch 100-1000 times weaker. People dont realize the level of power we're dealing with
Pretty much, is not that Imcel is weak it's that he's dealing with the reincarnated versions of two gods (one fed himself to supercharge his power, the other is Loki) + 1 old man (scariest thing in One Piece) + Hajrudin who went through offscreen training arc ig.

Idk about one shot but logically any other top tier would struggle hard with one of these guys (except H) let alone fight them as a team.

Slandering Imu for his performance is understandable but also silly, is like calling Darkseid weak for struggling against the whole JL.

I believe Mars went to MJ because he went too far from the summoning area. Its like a wifi disconnect kind of thing.

Sommers already confirmed that.
Well a reminder then.

I mean you remember EH don't you? We had to have a whole arc about Kizaru's mental health struggles and even then it took SBS 110 for people to start considering that he was sandbagging.

Imu's nerfs might need to be brought up again for people to consider them as a serious factor simply because people are prone to ignoring/forgetting the obvious.
