Controversial Is this Chapter Oda Coping Through Usopp?

#4
It sounds like projecting malice onto Oda.

Occam's Razor: Yes, Oda is mad at some fans and wants to spite them.

Hanlon's Razor: Oda doesn't actually care, this is a normal part of dialogue from Usopp, it just happens to have a scene that can be interpreted subjectively and unfavorably for him.

We shouldn't get a G6 because Luffy already said G5 is his peak and by the powers of it he can literally become anything. So G6 makes no sense narratively.
When has that EVER stopped a mangaka?

If I remember correctly SSJ1 only comes around once every 10.000 years or something. Goku, basically the best martial artist of all time in DBZ world, only achieved it after dying himself, being trained by Gods and seeing his best friend being blown up right in front of his eyes.

After that all of a sudden there is SSJ2, SSJ3, SSJ4, SSJ Red, SSJ Blue, SSJ UI and so on. All of a sudden Goten 6 years old and Trunks 7 years old achieve SSJ3. Something not even Vegeta or Gohan, two ultra elite fighters, ever achieved.

Same thing in a lot of other mangas as well. If Oda (or rather Shueisha or whoever ultimately makes the money from the toys, movies, clothes, games and so on) wants to add G6, G7, G8, G9 and G10 they will. Milk the cow dry, it's rare for a mangaka to ever write two mangas with huge success. And with Odas deteriorating health this is his only shot at making sure his descendants 500 years from now all live in palaces.

wrong, Oda has full creative power, as the most successful manga of all time, until Oda is around, none of the bafoonery you mentioned will exist.

His speech he says “GUYS SO WHAT IF HE TURNED WHITE HES STILL LUFFY! You can’t take away his freedom!

Thoughts?

seems Oda finally realizes the hate Gear 5 is getting and is trying to rectify it, which was a mistake but at least something.
If true guys that means we’re getting a better transformation. GEAR 6 >:)
For sure he definitely felt the effects of G5.

Are there really Gear 6 tho? F1 car has 8 gears, why not add in 3 more gears. Or maybe just call it Gear infiniD.

Yes. Probably why we didn't get any weird attack or transformations from Luffy either. No useless genie this time.
Oda couldn't help himself with the eyes popping out as usual but the fight was more bearable.

It's still Nika though and most people, myself included, don't like Nika.
That eye popping is shit. We already have eye popping in the series, but to forcefully put in another style of eye popping is just weird like it's just doesn't work. Not to say he forced other characters to pop the eye like Luffy make it even worse.

Thing is G5 was made out to be the pinnacle of his ability. He could only go the "different Nika mode" or "surpassing the DF's Nika/looney tunes influence" route now.
Either way I really hope he does. He should just drop the concept alltogether.

He could have made Luffy peak in a partial G4 monster with Nika aesthetics and we would have gotten a better Prime Garp. He could have still wrote in the usual Luffy gags, like this chapter with the hammer momentum getting the better out of him, just w/o that bullshit eye popping.
And besides the tom and jerry shit I also don't like those overly lanky aesthetics. That kraken gattling gives off fodder attack vibes.
No one in their right mind would prefer that over the Boundman or Snakeman mechanics.

I really hope it gets an upgrade in some shape or form.

I don’t think Oda cares enough to respond to fan criticism through his character dialogue, more like he’s just doing what he wants to do
Nah that’s KishiGOATo. Oda and Kubo care. Kubo was crying because he fk’d up his last arc and fans were shitting on him so he put statements out. This is Oda’s spiteful statement but more sneaky cuz it’s in the manga. Truly there will never be another Naruto.

Honestly? I think it's possible that Usopp's speech IS Oda projecting a bit. But, not about Gear 5 Luffy.

...I think Usopp's speech could be about Oda, himself.

"Turning white or being crowned a Emperor hasn't changed a thing!" The "turning white" could be referring to Oda's hair turning grey as he ages. And the "crowned a Emperor" comment could be about One Piece unofficially becoming the "King" of Shonen Jump. (If only because all the other big-name manga already have or are close to finishing up.)

"He throws his life into every single fight!" This could be about Oda spending all his time and energy making every chapter of the manga. Week after week.

"He should have the freedom to die honorably on his own terms!" This could be about Oda being sick and tired of everyone being worried about his health? His fans. Even his editors and other manga authors, probably. Everyone trying to get him to finish the manga early so that he can finally take a rest. This could be about Oda wanting to do his story his way, even if he ends up dying before he finishes.

If you look at it in a metatextual way, Oda might be saying that people need to stop trying to protect him and just let him tell his story. No matter how long it takes. Just like how Scopper needs to stop trying to protect Luffy as a "chosen one", and just let him fight the way he wants to fight. Even if it leads to his death, it's okay, because he'll die doing what he loves.

...I'm PROBABLY overthinking this? But, I can't help but see some...parallels with how Oda treats his health and how Luffy treats his own health in the story. They're both kind of "reckless", in their own ways. And, after all these years writing the character, I could see Oda seeing a lot of himself in Luffy. But, again...maybe I'm seeing connections that just aren't there.

You're definitely overthinking it. It's incredibly complicated looking at it that way.
