The Lynch of the Unkillable
​
The town had gathered in the square, torches blazing, pitchforks gleaming. The air was thick with fury and righteous anger. For hours, Ekkolojinx had been the subject of endless debate shady posts, suspicious votes, cryptic comments that made everyone's skin crawl.

"We've finally caught him!" Xlaw shouted. "The scum! The menace! The one who's been playing us all!"

"Lynch him!" the crowd roared. "Lynch EkkoLoJinx!"

The accused stood on the gallows, tied and trembling. He tried to speak, but the crowd drowned him out with chants and jeers. No one wanted to hear his excuses. No one wanted to hear his lies.

The Mayor stepped forward, gripping the lever. "Any last words?"

EkkoLoJinx opened his mouth. "I..."

"Doesn't matter!" the crowd screamed. "Pull it!"

The Mayor shrugged and pulled the lever.

The trapdoor opened. The rope tightened. EkkoLoJinx dropped.

Silence.

He hung there, swaying gently in the evening breeze. The crowd stared. Then someone let out a tentative cheer. Then another. Then the whole square erupted.

"WE GOT HIM! WE FINALLY GOT HIM!"

There was hugging. There was crying. There was a spontaneous round of "We Are the Champions" performed by a man with a questionable singing voice.

"Justice!" someone declared. "Victory!"

And then, at the stroke of midnight...

A flicker. A pulse. The air grew heavy.

The rope that had held him began to fray not from the wind, not from time, but from something older. Something that refused to die.

EkkoLoJinx's fingers twitched. His chest rose. His eyes snapped open.

He reached up, untied the noose with practiced ease, and dropped to the ground. He landed softly, rolling his shoulders, cracking his neck.

"Whew," he muttered, brushing off his shirt. "Good thing I had that [???]

The square was empty. The town had gone home to celebrate. No one was watching.

A single parchment appeared in the thread, glowing faintly:

"The threat is the virus, not the people."​

[Active - Patient Zero] - The player may choose to infect themselves with the virus, becoming Patient Zero. The virus is immediately active and begins to spread. The players will be informed that the virus started to spread. This ability may only be used once per game.
--- [Spread by Contact] - The virus spreads whenever a player interacts with an infected individual. Any player who quotes or replies to an infected player's post becomes infected themselves. The infection is automatic and cannot be prevented by any ability, immunity, or protection. The virus is transmitted through the thread itself.
--- [Cough Cough] - Any player infected by the virus has all of their passive abilities disabled for the duration of the infection. They cannot be healed, cleansed, or cured by any ability that does not specifically target the virus. Role-crushes and protection immunities of any kind do not prevent or stop this effect from happening.

[Active - Accelerate Spread] - Once per Day phase, the patient zero may target a player and quote them, accelerating the spread of the virus. The targeted player becomes infected immediately.

[Active - Antidote] - [Unlock Condition: All living players have been infected] -
Once the virus has infected every living player, Patient Zero unlocks the Antidote. The Antidote is a single dose of the cure, and Patient Zero may choose a post number where it will be hidden. The Antidote is then secretly placed at that post number. The Host will announce: "The Antidote has been hidden somewhere in the thread."
--- [Finding the Antidote] - The player who posts on the selected number will find the Antidote. They are immediately informed by the Host: "You have found the Antidote. You may choose to inject yourself with it, or pass it to another player." If they inject themselves, they are cured of the virus and become the Patient Zero's designated Healer.
--- [Reverse Spread] - Once the Antidote has been injected into a player, the cure spreads backward through the infection chain. The cured player may quote an infected player to cure them. The quoted player is healed of the virus, and their passives are restored. The cured player then may quote another infected player, and so on. This chain continues until all players are cured.
