Dude will fold up soon he desnt know how much PR penaldo has . He will be asked to apologise him by Portugese govt and Sponsors.
I don't know what they’ll discuss in private but i don't think a 72y old is going to hold a press conference to apologize.

They could "retire" him but everyone would pin the blame on Cristiano given that the team actually played quite well in the last three matches.

Portuguese sites are currently flooded with comments in support of JJ.

Only Cristiano's teenage fans on Instagram are furious.

At the end of the day Cristiano will retire either this season or the next cuz he now struggles to coordinate his movements when he has the ball at his feet.

The FA will lose money, followers, sponsors, etc.

Because the FA want to suck off every last bit of revenue of this match and they want to minimize the cost by providing dogshit services to team like Benin, which any other South American won't accept
It's nothing like that.

It's a farewell match and a very emotional one. They recalled Messi just to give him farewell. It's more about Messi and his teammates enjoying themselves and cherish their last match together and doesn't want it to be competitive.

It's pointless to have a competitive team when everyone's focus is to give Messi a farewell match and enjoy as much as they can on field and live this moment one final time.

Džeko had his farewell match 4 days ago in a literal competition and a high level oponent and it was still emotional AND Sweden respected all protocols of the match and even gave him their own send off pre and post match

Benin is a nobody team for this calibre of match. They could have at least made it Newel's Old Boys

South American rivalry is kind a big deal they wont like to give Messi nice farewell that might be the reason.

Here's the actual reason

As Messi retirement happened so suddenly AFA only had a few weeks to organize a stadium, design a special tribute kit, and find an opponent willing to travel. Many of the big teams have their busy schedule in October. Then they also didn't want it competitive because AFA is organizing this match as celebration party and to pay a grand tribute to Messi.

Benin was available, and was willing to travel on short notice and play it in relaxed atmosphere like celebration friendly match.

Another reason is AFA can have maximum revenue out of this.

So, I guess all reasons fits.
