Im so confused so is Sanji purposefully letting killingham land blows?! For what reason!!
May be the reason is in the title? "There is no worth in Love that longs for death."
Sanji always wanted/ready to die for the sake of his friends. Just before Zoro knocked him off at Thrillerbark, Sanji says a Japanese idiom which means he is always ready to sacrifice himself for the sake of his others and his time has come now.
Sanji basically fine with dying anytime if it is for sake of helping his friends, and Zoro is the type of guy that crawls out of hell to help his friends.

So Ivankov realized Sanji's "weakness" long ago and confronted him about it but it needed Gaban to remind him so Sanji through the flashback suddenly overcomes that weakness in one chapter and awakens ACoC?

Sounds like an ass pull.
Oda just remembered this arc that Zoro and Sanji had skip training and he needed to show them a little

Throughout Heaven & Earth,I alone am d Honored One
‎
The CoC awakening is linked entirely to sanji accepting himself as worthy. So the fact that he preserves his body despite having an exoskeleton means he is truly exercising self love and not putting it at risk.
But how it would lead to CoC coating?

Realizing he needs more self love can lead to him dodging attacks and it can unlock FS. This has to be an immediate effect.

This doesn't lead to CoC coating directly - atleast not now

He actually has done that throughout the manga.
First thoughts that come to mind:
1. Drum - He breaks his literal spine and still tries to fight if not for Kurehas intervention.
2. Alabasta - In the Mr. 2 fight it ends with him actively saying “I guess I broke some ribs again” not caring about his own consition
3. Ennies Lobby - Example already mentioned
4. Thriller Bark - Letting himself get stabbed just to not allow Namis dress get ruined, then still going to fight oars afterwards without tending to the injuries.
5. Punk Hazard - When he celebrates that it was his body that got fucked up when Nami was in it. And rather than tend to those injuries, he went to fight Vergo to save Tashigi

I’m sure there are others these are just quick examplea
Recently in elbaf he did not even tried to stay with Bonney and Lilith to get first treatments. He jumped off without caring about it.

Precisely.
Remember when he tanks 1 of Jabra's shigan hands in order to trap and finish him?
Or how he tanked Absalom while holding Nami in his arms.
Or when he faced tanked S-Shark.

Sanji subconsciously takes way more damage than he should when he fights because of his lack of self preservation.

Which is funny because the Germa abilities (exoskeleton and increased recovery) actually feed into this problematic approach.
So, in order for Sanji to improve, he actually needs to rely LESS on the Germa goodies

Sciencebros in the mud.
Always easy to spot the larpers.
:pepecroc:
?
those are bad examples because he was forced to take those hits (besides the S-Shark thing which was just him flexing the exoskeleton), it's not like he was just taking them because he felt like he deserved it
