Sanji doesn’t realize he puts him down like this. All of this is subconsciously. The issues he has to deal with is accepting he has a problem, and then healing from it.
He never accepted that he did this in the first place. Thats why he locked this memory away and Iva returned as his nightmare because they forced him to confront a truth he didn’t want to accept and has refused to deal with all thus time

Well, after YEARS of trauma and abuse, one just simply trusts someone who says "I love you", very believable. I'd say Sanji started taking it seriously only after Luffy came for him to WCI.
And even if you know you're loved, with self-esteem issues you keep having impostor syndrome and doubt whether you're worth it, and maybe you're still a fraud and once it's clear to everyone that you're a fraud, no one will love you anymore. Totally not years of therapy talking here, damn I can relate to Sanji so much

@AverageBuggyEnjoyer everyday that passes I am more certain of the conclusion that people would call Zuko betraying Iroh at the end of Book2 some sort of "asspull", or "stalling" or "didnt he go through the change already?"
Left Wing of the Pirate King
CoC
Cool enemies ahead
Internal conflict resolved
You are right. Whatever shall I do?

Ehhhhh. Bro's getting Lafitte
"Internal conflict resolved"
He did this in wano, wci and elpabh. Each time nothing changed, he didn't get better feats, he didn't clutch fights like zoro. Because oda has unfortunately shifted from showing to stating with his character.
He's gonna get coc because he narratively had, but it's a pretty ass conclusion. He might not even use the raid suit again for example.
You're gonna realize in due time
If lanji doesn't quit smoking after this, he a fraud
Cause bro is literally killing himself every single time he smokes.
Also let's not forget that he even smoked in Namino's body...
Where was his self sacrificial love for Namino back then? He was completely okay giving her cancer just cause he couldn't live without his addiction for a few hours
