General & Others Why do people think Zoro won't be WSS at EOS?

#1
So I'm watching Tekking's latest video titled "Strawhat dreams- Difficulty rating" and he's having his usual banter talking about Luffy being pirate king, All blue, Drawing a world map and then he gets to Zoro. He admits "Zoro's dream is the most straightforward" and it is. Then he starts talking about the usual nonsense about Shiryu killing Mihawk and I'm like whatever. But then he breaksdown and says "maybe Oda will just have some straw hats abandon their dreams or fail to accomplish them by EoS" specifically referring to Zoro.

And I'm like TF is shit? I mean I know this argument about Zoro failing to become WSS or Zoro no longer wants to be WSS has existed in forums but I never expected it to be so widespread that Tekking even starts stuttering in his own video because of this idea.

Since the biggest one piece youtuber seems to think this is a possibility, I'd like to make an actual dedicated post to this ridiculous idea. Why do people think any straw hat will fail at their dreams or even abandon their dream and why is it specifically Zoro people pick out for this despite having THE MOST STRAIGHTFORWARD dream of all?

I mean Tekking clearly never gave this point a lot of thought despite leaving it in his video. His train of thought was like, "Mihawk trained Zoro so Mihawk would go easy on Zoro so that fight wouldn't be satisfying so Oda will have Shiryu kill Mihawk so that Zoro will fight a guy he just met for his final fight and not someone built up for decades and Shiryu would've only won because apparently invisibility is OP so Zoro would just need ONE STAT to beat Shiryu since Shiryu is weaker than Mihawk but with just one specific stat advantage and that's it but this is extremely lame so maybe Zoro just won't be WSS or he'll have a tremendous change in character in these last five years of the manga and abandon his dream"

And at the end Tekking realises kinda how even lamer this is and just says "But who doesn't want to see Zoro be WSS honestly"

Now I could've left this be as a simple goof by Tekking if this wasn't an actual thing people seem to believe already.

So I'll ask those people who believe this why exactly Zoro's dream is the special one or Zoro's character is the special one where his dream isn't important enough to strive for or maybe too hard to achieve or his character is supposedly headed for a great change that he's the only strawhat who will abandon his dream right at the end of the series?

isnt tekking the dude who thinks zoro and luffy are extremely close in terms of powerlevel?
Tekking doesn't power scale

He just said Shiryu being invisible should be enough for him to be Zoro's final fight

He mostly deals in "Isn't this cool for the story"

What he said about Luffy and Zoro is ISDS can cut through King Kong gun if the two were to clash in dressrosa and really thats not even far fetched in actual power scaling. But tekking just looked at Luffy is specifically weak to cutting and that was a mountain level cut

iirc he had a video on luffy vs zoro and was more like luffy would win 51 or something out of 100 fights. :brootea:

Its the same as it's always been cuz of 2 things:

1. It places zoro to close to luffy by being at least yonko level eos. This can't happen for some in the fandom and for some reason think the sh's need to resemble a yonko crew so luffy a yonko shouldn't be near his yc1 zoro.

2. It places zoro over a favorite character. It can be shanks, law, marco, kidd or who ever but if zoro accomplishes his dream and is stronger than the favorite character then it's wrong. To some zoro can't be stronger than shanks cuz he is luffys idol. Or zoro can't be stronger than kidd cuz he's luffys main SN rival.

Do people really take that so far to say a sh wont complete his dream just to suit power levels.

Do people really believe this?!?

Each of the stawhats is going to accomplish their dreams, this is what One Piece was about since the beginning.
Only because Luffy's dream gets the most focus since he is the main character it doesn't mean that the others' dreams are not important.
A weak point for years has been that the main characters' screentine is sacrificed to the plot and side characters so we don't see them actively pursuing their dreams that often. This is problematic but there are specific threads to discuss this.

Nonetheless, all of the strwahats' dreams are vital to the overall story in some way.

That one of the main characters is going to abandon theirs is simply unrealistic. And Zoro is not the type to abandon his dream of all people. And why should he undergo a big character change?

Also, Ods said in a previous interview that it will be Luffy, Nami and Zoro who are the key characters in the last chapters.

So NO. Zoro will not abandon his dream of becoming WSS.
