Just like Big Mom turned crazy when she was about to cause serious harm to the SHs, and Kaido was stalled by the Scabbards for a while, Zoro is being stalled by trivial matters like Apoo.
The reason is the same for everyone else, he's the Big Bad of the arc, take him down, you win the war.
The Scabbards and Momonosuke are the only ones who have a real emotional tie and beef Kaido, everyone else including Luffy's reasons are tied to helping out Momo and co.

Why would that be discouraging and humiliating? G4 Luffy and Drake took out one. Zoro has yet to use a single name attack since the war started. It's time for Zoro to start getting a little serious and taking out 5 numbers would be a good start.
It makes since for Zoro to fight the numbers since Apoo controls them with his music. We haven't seen Apoo do that yet since he w6 stop earlier. That needs to be done before he's defeated.
Apoo is no a threat to Zoro. He knows how to easily counter Apoo's attacks and he can tank them so the numbers are the only thing Oda can do that would stop Zoro from quickly retrieving the antidote.
