Character Discussion Oda failed to make King and Queen menacing characters?

In their first appearances, they looked very threatening, many people thought that Zoro and Sanji were too weak to face them at the end of the arc.

Nowadays, they have such low credibility that Zoro fans seem to refuse the Zoro vs King fight (as long as they want Zoro to participate in the fight against Kaido), and Sanji fans are not satisfied with Sanji vs Queen. (since Sanji vs King would be better).

For you, where did Oda fail?

Oda should have made Jack the strongest commander(that dude was juggernaut on Zou),Queen is a goofy dude and King has no presence whatsoever.

I don’t think they have low credibility
Queen survived big mom attacks
And king looked absolutely terrifying against sanji

oda made 2 mistakes
First of all the foreshadowing of zoro killing kaido
And Second sanji clashing with king

of course their fans would be a little disappointed if it end up being just zoro vs king and sanji vs queen

since we already know
Kaido>king>queen

and in some of their fans minds
Zoro>king
Sanji>queen
because of oda’s 2 mistakes that I mentioned

Nah. The issue is Zoro fans want Zoro to be the main character and fight Kaido while Sanji fans want Sanji to be Zoro and fight King. Misplaced fan expectations.

King & Queen haven’t gotten much time yet that’s true but Queen’s silliness is often juxtaposed with some frightening declaration or making a game out of the horrific deaths of his subordinates and enemies alike. He’s a damn menace.

The commanders arent in a position to be threatening anymore and it's mainly the expectations of the fanbase keeping them alive. Commanders looked threatening before because Cracker blew Luffy away and Katakuri was the main antagonist of an arc.

Luffy and the SHs are moving up the ladder.....Luffy is going after top tiers now and commanders are becoming stepping stones for Zoro and Sanji.....the commanders just have to appear strong so that their losses can mean something.

Don't talk about zoro fans when you have no clue.
It's not because one or two want kaido at any cost that mean the same thing for everyone. I can send you a link to our Zoro discord, we did a poll about that 98% want Zoro vs King and after that ZKK. You can even check the polls here about who will face king. Since day 1, I personnally want more zoro vs king than ZKK.

About Queen vs Sanji, well just need to look at your sanji fc thread, except you and two/three, most of sanji fans hate Queen because King looks better ....

Queen is not at all threatening that's true but King is scarier than any others YC1 with his attitude and design.
The only thing which is hella fun for me, is that Oda gave Sanji a chance to even face a yonkou commanders after his performances against Vergo and Doflamingo, but most of sanji fans shit on Queen the third strongest of Kaido crew, a guy with a bounty over a billion and over Katakuri ...

I'm with you on the Zoro vs King matchup both swordsmen right handmen of their captian they have similar personalities i would love to see them facing off. Zoro deeply injuring kaido would be more than enough for me

But there is menacing power that comes with sheer size, which Queen has by the literal tons

Gotta fully disagree on King tho. His design screams sadism, his flaming wings r super intimidating & that beak spear on Sanji was brutal

I don't know but so far i find Queen who is portrayed less menaced tbh his bounty got revealed early and was afraid of a CoC clash in onigashima and had his plague which is his nickname treated like a Clown meanwhile King still has his bounty / Wildfire / swordmanship and so on let's wait for them

Why do you care what Zoro fans wants? If E.Oda cared about Zoro fans then One Piece wouldn’t be successful and it would be an average manga series. Luckily E.Oda doesn't care about any fandom and makes his own story, he is successful so far so I can't say he failed at anything his job is not satisfying the fandom, he is also aware of Zoro and Sanji rivalry and uses it to make series more exiciting since East Blue. Just wait and see it will be fine.

Gotta remember is shonen. Oda presented the New World as a living hell... then we get goofy looking characters immediately into the New World. The Yonkou on a whole were supposed to be so menacing that messing with those guys should really result in death. We've seen how easily Luffy has escaped after being captured by a Yonkou Crew TWICE. There is just no tension anymore for me. The main characters are going to stay alive regardless and not even pay for it with a lasting injury or scar. But then I remember again, its shonen and it won't ever have the dark undertones that I really want.

Was Cracker really threatening? Nami was trolling him. The Yonko Commanders apart from Kata were never that strong. They only lived on people's Yonko wanking hype. King and Queen aren't far off from Vergo and Pica.

Let's be real: There are no real "menacing" characters in OP.

That's just a fact fans have to accept.

Not even Crocodile, Akainu or Doflamingo were really "menacing", since we already know a ton of funny quirks (Crocodile being blackmailed by Ivankov, Akainu being constantly trolled by Sengoku, Enel becoming friends with some moon midgets etc.) about them.
