I think Sanji has very good CoO and it was better than Luffy's before FS. I still think in terms of distance, Sanji is better, but Luffy is better in terms of time.

That has little to do with the "My CoO needs work" line from Luffy though. It's actually a quite common joke in One Piece to falsely attribute things to Haki.











Still though, it's pretty telling that Luffy is even considering the possibility that Sanji's CoO is better than his, joke or not.

I believe last Chapter confirmed that Sanji have better CoO than Luffy & also confirmed to us that certain Haki Techniques don't represent Haki Level. What i'm trying to say is that someone with Future Sight doesn't necessarily mean he have better CoO than someone without it, it just means he have another Technique that the other one doesn't have. I'm pretty sure same applies to CoA, for example Luffy learned Advanced CoA Technique but i still think his CoA is still weaker than Katakuri's.

In other words, there is Haki Level & Haki Techniques, they are separate

Let me repost this from the other thread.

Sanji literally activates CoO, the heartbeat onomatopoeia, the panel darkening, and closing his eye to focus is clearly showing that he activated CoO. The same SFX as when Luffy uses his CoO against Katakuri.


The same SFX as Usopp uses his CoO down here.


Flampe stated that Luffy dodged her attack in a shock manner. Same thing happens with Sanji dodging Katakuri's jelly bean. And Luffy was using it unconsciously. Sanji was also caught off-guard at that point but he managed to dodged an attack from a YC1 with Future Sight.


And since Sanji's new CoO feat in the last chapter was so incredible, that only a blind admiral whose is God in CoO, and Enel using electromagnetic waves can replicate. Luffy and Jinbei can't hear the sound but Sanji can hear it clearly through the walls. So you can say that Sanji's CoO is on the same level as Fujitora's CoO who is an Navy Admiral and Enel who has the island level feat of CoO + his Devil Fruit.

And now this chapter proves that Luffy still needs to work on his observation haki even more, whether it's a gag or not, it's still an impressive feat. I also think that Luffy has better precognition/time perception type than Sanji while I think that Sanji has better sensory type, something like Fujitora and Enel.:kayneshrug:

Oh and mind you, Sanji is the very first Strawhat to unlock Haki pre-timeskip in Little Garden arc.:finally::finally:

Sanji heard a whole conversation between a woman AND a man. Sanji always had a strong CoO for woman, but in this case he also hears the man talking. So no, it's not a gag. And i don't think it's a gag at all, when Sanji senses a woman in danger - as for example he heard tashigi's tear falling to the ground, there was no gag involved in that.
Jimbei thought falsely that Sanji sensed a strong enemy, - that can be seen as a gag - but that does not invalidate what happend last 2 chapters ago - where he could hear a conversation Luffy and Jimbei couldn't.
