Attack on Titan is about mystery, loss of innocence, the cruelty of man, war, etc. I think it fits.
Like there is a reason why most people complained about seasons 2 and 3, it's because they wanted just godzilla like titan situations and fight scenes, but that's not what makes attack on titan a good anime (though the animation is beautiful)
