Oden is like a mediocre movie who had epic trailers before its release. He was hyped so much as a fighter and a character and yet his personnality and the story around him were really disappointing.

it's an epic tale that has turned into a comic tragedy. At least it changes cliched and perfect heroes who always succeed in everything. I find it interesting that Oden himself brought his country down because of his actions.

My problem honestly isn't Oden himself, I like characters that aren't perfect. What I can't stand is all the wanking (from scabbards, yamato...). I can understand admiring his way of life but he was also deeply flawed and made a lot of stupid & selfish decisions that made Wano the hell it is. Yet it is NEVER adressed.

Oden being a idiot doesn't mean he is a bad written character, those flaws are part of him, that's all. He was human and wasn't as perfect or monstruous like he was portrayed initially in his flashback.
Did he make the wrong choices in Wano? Yes. It's a bad thing? No. He thought he was doing the best in his opinion about that situation.

Your opinion about him/his decisions/his ignorance/etc =/= doesnt mean he is a bad writter character.
Oda did a good job with him.
On the other hand, we can't say the same with WB...

Never understood people calling the allied captains fodder. Barto/Cavendish/Harrison/Sai are all insanely strong.

Cavendish held back Hakuba with his own hands, the same Hakuba that wrecked everyone in the coliseum except Rebecca (because she had too much plot armor until Diamante came).

He’s anything but fodder. I’d say the Strawhat Fleet is close to Mid Trio strong. Or even slightly stronger.
