I mean it's fine if you think that, throughout Wano Oda has been quite unpredictable. In my train of thought, Kaido isn't even the final biggest baddest boss of One piece. And I hold Zoro as an equal to Luffy, someone on the same strength curve, who holds important decisions. I imagined
Blackbeard ~ Luffy's epic moment/fight/build up
Kaido ~ Zoro's epic moment/fight/build up
Big Mom ~ Sanji's big moment/"fight"
And the legend of the next Ryuma + Eastern Dragon was in a magazine as well. But I'm sure I dont have to reiterate points of ZKK for you, as you probably have seen it a hundred times.
Also to your point of Zoro acting under Luffy only, wasn't it disproven for Wano when he attacked Orochi on his own accord with killing intent (knowing his strength and Orochi's weaknesses, he would have died). He also went against Luffys decision to accept X Drake after he just defected
