The mcu wouldn't have sustained itself with 20 movies of the same thing
It reached a point where marvel was even making fun of itself in their own movies and they still made it work
In spiderman far from home, the villain is specifically only a villain because he can make fun of the type of movie he's in
He says stuff like "people only listen if you have a cape on" acknowledging that in the movie world itself, the superheroes have usurped discourse same way the mcu has taken over the film industry
Hell the man is literally just an actor basically. He comes with a script writer and a costume designer and a vfx designer. The entire concept of mysterio is making fun of how the villains in marvel are created both in the story with mysterio's over dramatic back story with a dead family and out of yhe story with the reliance on visual effects to make villains
It takes balls to make fun of yourself especially after 20 movies of acting very serious and that shows how confident these marvel guys are that they can state themselves knowing they'll still make a billion
