I don't think distance matters. Back on Sabaody Archipelago his DF worked on people that were far away from Hawkins.

And when distance wouldnt matter, how does it come does he havent endless puppets and got cutted by law? Shouldnt he have thousands of People connected, like all from Udon, and literally never faint?

I mean...I guess? but that sounds more like headcanon to me if I'm honest. I think you're making it a bit too complicated. I doubt there will ever be someone who is able to cut the connection between Hawkins and his puppets. That would make his DF useless and pointless to have, if someone could just do that.

I doubt strength has anything to do with it. He simply took the most important crew members of Law's crew and made them into his puppets. The rest is fodder anyway.
