Powers & Abilities Should Zoro deserve to be equal with Luffy in Strength?

The first fight they get into as a crew after Morgan; Buggy beats Zoro and Zoro has no chance to win, while Luffy literally eats Buggy's attack even when his hands were tied, then wounded Zoro realizes he has no chance against Buggy, he escapes by carrying Luffy’s cage.

Then Luffy beats Buggy, while Zoro beats Buggy's chief of staff Cabaji, who was equal to Buggy's first mate Mohji (which Luffy one-shotted).

That was the beginning of the manga, did you skip that part?

Also Oda originally planned to make Zoro one of the sidekicks of Buggy

Why should he be equal to the man who takes all his pain on top of his own and still stands?
Luffy has never been equal and Whiskey Peak is the only thing that saves his ass.

Are you really tryna apply logic to a Manga that mysteriously have pirates stronger than cp agents and marine who trains all day?? Look at Sanji, the man does nothing but cook and smokes about 100 packs a day and he is still stronger than most of the cp agents.

No, it was Nami who dealt with Buggy, Luffy only sent him flying. See? He wasnt winning fights alone even in preTS, help was always there.

There is proof of Zoro dwarfing Luffy's abilities wherever you look in the manga.
The point is that Zoro is superior but Luffy's fandom cannot process that.

That's the point, he isnt lagging behind. He is the personification of strength. He was always ahead of Luffy.
Once Kaido is dead, 1vs1 bet goes to Zoro.

I am not even sure if Luffy "Deserves" being at the level that he is given that it took Roger and Whitebeard likely a decade or two to reach it

Sabo has been training with The revolutionaries since he was a kid yet Luffy might have surpassed him now.

Luffy might become The Pirate King before he hits 20


This is a Shounen, Undeserved Powerups are a given

Yea, that's one thing I dislike in general about one piece. Oda needs to stretch his timeline, make it a 5-10 year journey. It would add to the Immersion.

All that training was him taming the sword so it wouldnt taken his haki
Theres nothing he can do now he couldnt before

They both had a mini training to help them topple Kaido...that wouldn't really tell us anything about who came back stronger from the timeskip.

Luffy has his measure. Having fought Kaido is the biggest part of his development. Zoro hasn't fought anyone stronger than Pica to the finish. His current level isn't likely to be further from his previous level than closer.
