Current Events Did/will Oda waste chance of Creating great war(Wano)

being on this forum has opened my eyes on how much current one piece story is flawed it’s interesting but it’s no way the quality it used to be.

we have 2 yonkos on our hand but i don’t feel any risk or tension the fight doesn’t seem as serious as it should, i hope that changes soon. but with HxH at no point i felt what i’m feeling with one piece rn

i realized one piece is a great story but that’s it all it’s success was mostly luck....

Togashi is great at scenarios but comparatively bad at world building (the hunter system which the entire world is based on doesn't make logistical sense for multiple reasons).
Oda is great at world building but comparatively bad at scenarios.

A large part of One Piece are the emotions and humor. Oda sets up the villains and unambiguously evil pieces of filth and has Luffy overcome them in a largely formulaic manner, it isn't trying to be HxH with morally ambiguous protagonists and clever plot twists at every turn (though One Piece does have some very good plot twists e.g Raizo, Gol D, Ace Rogers son)

i feel like the island itself is wasted with this yonkou plotline.
wano as a stand alone is interesting and i wish we explore a more mythical side of it (like those strange animal)

I think he likes to have really long to plot things out and change details, back pain being the sole reason doesn't make sense if he is leaving millions and millions of dollars on the table for both himself and Shueisha.

Honestly I don't expect much from Oda.He ruined a war like Marineford by keeping it short compared to arcs like dragged forever such as Dressrosa and Whole Cake Island.He mostly off-screens fights or keeps them short like the Killer vs Zoro.

This is very real. But I would also assert that he should have given texture to power levels. Marineford was pretty unrealistic power levels wise, we had Crocodile becoming a legit imposing high tier all of a sudden, Kizaru failing to kill Luffy, Mihawk made dirt. And so on...

I comprehend the necessity of installing a plot that would be quite spectacular and enjoyable from an aestethical standpoint, but an author should always attempt to tackle PIS and remove it from the equation when possible, or try to develop a story without relying on it much since the beginning.

Wano war arc will make Marineford war arc looks cute he said.

First problem is that people expected this one to be the 'war that will make MF look like child game', while Oda is obviously referring to the Final War with that statement
Second reason is that this is a raid as of now. Chapter 1000 with the WG arriving to face Kaido made the war start. To be more accurate i think the real war will start with Act 4 (which should be full action).
There's also some tactic tbh: Kaido and Big Mom (the leaders) are on the rooftop where the big shots are, in the castle there are 2 Tobiroppo (Who's Who and Black Maria) for skimming, Queen made a really good job stalling the alliance for next-to-10 chapters without basically moving a finger, Jack took down the Sulong Mink army practically by himself and made Inu/Neko go Sulong, King coordinates and will shine soon. There are the other 3 Tobiroppo hunting around and Beast Pirates showed to have also valuable 'fodder goups' like Sasaki Armored Corps of those with the capacity to fly who seem to be under King command.
Again, keep in mind that the battle just started. There are at least another 40 chapters of action in front of us
