Oda wanted to give future power up for Sanji, so he made his family story like that... and he's giving him their powers little by little, starting with Raid Suit, then it being able to turn invisible, then awakening his gene...etc

Zoro is arguably almost as strong as Kaido but Oda is portraying a 5 v 2 for a reason. He is going to reach that level by either the end of this arc or the next one however. That being said I can see Luffy as Zoro's equal but no more. Being generous.
