My my, I really feel for anyone regarding "Marineford" a masterpiece. Maybe those teens should try some literature outside the mainstream shonen bubble. They would probably be shocked.

Arlong Park and Water 7 aged surprisingly well. The whole mess started with Oda introducing haki. Since then inconsistencies piled up.

No, massive difference: WB's allies were hyped up by the marines as notorious and fearsome New World legends, whereas Shank's allies have been specifically (!) mentioned as bums that are simply protected by Shanks.
