Crocodile and Moria are polar opposites. During their conflict with Luffy, one was YC level (Moria) in the past and the other would become YC level in the future (Crocodile).
If Shanks has better Haki than Mihawk, then he beats Mihawk through swordsmanship. Shanks's great feats were done through SWORDSMANSHIP, splitting the skies with Whitebeard and stopping Akainu.

Was skeptical of Yasopp being a YC3, but when you consider Shanks being short of one man compared to Luffy and Blackbeard (ignoring their tenth person), it makes sense that both Jimbei and Usopp would foil him.
This may not have been Oda's intention, but Jimbei and Kuma are perfect foils to each other.
* Jimbei bonded with Ace and joined Monkey D. Luffy.
* Kuma bonded with Sabo and joined Monkey D. Dragon.
* Jimbei was grouped with Crocodile (sort of) with Mihawk around.
* Kuma was grouped with Doflamingo (a Crocodile foil) with Mihawk around.
Theory: Big Mom is still alive (if Movie Red is an indication) and her Soul-Soul Fruit has somehow protected her from the lava.
