But Shanks didn't even know who Ace was when he met him... No one knew about Shanks' existence except for Garp.
Ah that's right. Disregard then.

But still, that dialogue can just he taken as them being surprised he ate it.

Honestly, who knows what the rationalization will be. Maybe Shanks kept it for himself hit Luffy ate it and changed the plan. Maybe he never knew what it was and "fate" had the fruit end up with Luffy.

Honestly I have no idea because Oda hasn't explained the logistics yet. It's kind of like how Ace went to Wano and didn't encounter Kaido. For a long time people questioned how this was possible. Then we found out how.

Awakening, in general, gives you the ability to affect your surroundings. What Luffy's doing is a more broken version of what most other awakenings can already do. Reality wrapping in its true sense goes far beyond what Luffy's doing rn. Luffy just gets to fight freely however he likes within the boundaries of what his ability allows him to do—he doesn't get to do whatever he wants.
But Zoan?

So Shanks just randomly put the World-changing, most powerful fruit in existence, in some random chest on some random table in some random bar in full view of everyone and within reach of a kid
Headcanon: Shanks deliberately did that and make sure his crew guard and watch silently over the treasure chest, so that no one can see and reach for the treasure chest ...except for Luffy, the one Shanks wanted to appoint as his ultimate pawn to wreak havoc against WG.

Oh and Oda didnt plan on making Ace Rogers son initially either... He was just Luffys natural brother.

But after he told the editors the idea, he retconned it.

Which is what exactly?

Cuz he ain’t rubber anymore.
He's still rubber guys

Part of the text of what says Gorousei in the chapter, thanks to redon from Arlong Park Forums.

Gorousei: "The awakening of that fruit will give the rubber body even more “strength” and “freedom”.
It is said that, it is the most... ridiculous power in the world!!"

The idea behind the fruit and allowing Luffy to fight "how he wants" stems from him being able to creatively throw a punch or kick however he feels like. Oda felt that Rubber best represented this. All the awakneing is doing is allowing him to break the limitations of his rubber power.

Now he's stronger, can use his rubber attacks in new ways and can affect the environment around him.

Yes, i know that one

Although this raises Who's Who profile very high. He compared his talents to Rob Lucci and he was put to guard of the Gomu Gomu no Mi. Now that's it confirmed that's the DF Gorosei were talking about, it's a big deal.

He's low YC level guaranteed. He straight up seemed more skilled than Jack. Jack would get wrecked by Jinbe too.
Jack > Doffy= Who's Who. Get over it.

Oda's too fucking funny man. He just doesn't care. Surprised he can even still sit down to draw at his desk after the amount of shit he's unceremoniously ripped out of his ass, in this arc alone.

This has to take the cake though. Going against every established rule about devil fruits for the last 2 decades and then giving Luffy an all-purpose reality warping God ability?? LMFAO
Okay Ki-mid-su No Laiba fan. :suresure:

Man what was the 2 year training
And ZORO also trained for 2 years after that we haven't seen him train at all he also got advcoc on a whim
Where did I say something about Zoro? Why did you have to bring up Zoro? Are you pressed or something? Oh and yes he also understood advCoC usage in the midst of battle.

I was referring to your comment about advanced forms of Haki so your point is completely irrelevant. He learned Future Sights and advCoC on a whim. The only advanced Haki he trained for was Ryuo.

Didn't really learn AdCoC on a whim. He took the concept of Ryou, which he trained for, and applied it to CoC. The fundamental usage of both are the same.

His devil's fruit gives him certain abilities. He gets a rubber-like body that still functions like rubber—although he does some things that rubber shouldn't be able to do. It's probably a rubber ability as he apparently turns the ground into rubber to deflect a Boro Breath. The fruit gives him a certain degree of control over fire, which is probably why he has control over fire, which in turn explains why Nika was nicknamed the Sun God. And then there is the freedom thing. Luffy is controlling the battlefield within the boundaries of what his fruit gives him.

Luffy isn't rubber because he thought he was rubber. That's just what he gets from the fruit. He didn't start using fire because he wants to use it. Once again, it comes with the fruit. Luffy is definitely controlling the surroundings based on the description we're given, so you can technically call it reality wrapping. But this is a very, very, very limited version of it. Reality wrapping in its true sense is a different monster altogether.

That's mental gymnastics a little. He just realized that Kaido hit him with something more than CoA infused club attack so it wasn't that hard to add the dots.
