Character Discussion To Sanjibros, how big is your disappointment if Crocodile is the last/final enemy for Sanji?

luffy was factually in a worse state than croc was in their last clash

Crocodile then pulled up being a menace in marine Ford being someone that same luffy in g2 couldn't defeat.

Burgess on the other hand seems threatening enough, his DF limit can be very high.
Lafitte being unknown also can be adjusted to make Sanji struggle.
Both IMHO are better than having Croc.

for a brawler like burgees , croc is a very very bad matchup

We know he isn't because it's unrealistic, but Zoro vs Mihawk and Sanji vs Croc is much more realistic. Hence the discussion.

Nah. Any of known Croc abilities can be fought by Sanji.

But it is possible that Burgess and Lafitte's powers can threaten Sanji.

For example, Burgess super super strength can bypass Exo defense. Or Lafitte hypnotizes Sanji with women illusions.

Both are definitely more difficult to deal with.

In-universe it probably is not, or it is possible indeed. Because Haki blooms and stuff.

But reader's perception is different matter. Croc is iconic as early game opponent, or the first real obstacle for Luffy.

In action shounen, for a lot of reasons like powercreep, this kind of character won't come back as real threat.

Unless authors do something drastic for them, most of readers opinion on them won't change much. Especially since Oda "only" gave Croc a 2B bounty. That's not a real gamechanger.

No. Nothing in sanjis abilities prevents his body from being drained by sand.

Burgess punches harder but is still stupid and most likely vastly slower than sanji.

It's a nice callback & connection indeed, even longer than Sanji-Kalifa to Sanji-Black Maria subplot.

But that doesn't amount much, especially for the supposed final fight.

It's only 1 thread/connection, Sanji's other opponents also mostly have 1 thread :

- Mr 2 with Sanji's quirk of not able to harm women
- Wanze being a Cook
- Absalom with Sanji's childhood dream DF
- Vergo being a Spy
- Doffy being a Royal
- Queen being a MADS

The fact that pre-ts hakiless base luffy beat him will make the victory significantly less hype than his victory over Queen (which is a comparable feat to Luffy's victory over Katakuri last arc, or at least Cracker)

Oda awakening Croc would do enough.

If Sanji were to use Hell Memories with Ifrit fire, he needs to up his CoA game to full body Hardening. Which could happened in Croc fight.

2. Sanjis coa was never shown to be impressive
3. Sanji wouldn't only be able to resist if his haki is higher than crocodiles

Even if those were true/happened, Croc is still a poor Final opponent in our context of discussion

He feels like 2 levels below Mihawk. Sanji's opponent should be only 1 level below Zoro's.

So this scenario is a bad influence for both Sanji and Mihawk, both my favorites. 😢

I think it's impossible. The matchup dynamic only works if Luffy had an entire battle against Buggy and the cross guild was the main antagonist of the arc. Also, Who would the other Straw Hats fight against? Jinbe vs Mr1? Robin vs Alvida?
