At least that's better than how Dragon was confirmed to be the man marked by flames, with no WG ties, no black ship, no whirlpools, and not even any burn scar.

This forum holds old quotes in reserve and I didn't see it lol. My bad
Oda simply doesn't know what to do with that guy. What his character is. His role in the crew is. The whole point of it all.
He never should have joined the crew. He was a cool support character in MF saga and wci. And should have fucking stayed that way instead of becoming a permanent member of the crew that now mooches panel time off of the middle trio and the weak trio, who already weren't getting much panel time as it were. Now they have to share the little time they get with this Fish mofo, and have to scrape by and wait for their monthly panel to be barely relevant.

This is easily the most boring cover story in the history of One Piece, made worse by the fact that it revolves around a character who wasn't even a major part of her debut arc until the very last act and just lunged herself into the plot. I'd rather see what Katakuri or even Chouchou are up to.
What was even the point of giving them a helmsman this late in the game when Franky, Sanji and Chopper already had that role well covered? So far the only use he's had as a helmsman was avoiding a convenient candy wave plot device from Big Meme.
Kinda surprised by the negative reactions to this chapter, to me this seems like the best chapter of the last few months so far. Glad I reread Water 7, makes me feel more appreciative of Saul's return.
Many on this forum are obsessed with fights and power scaling, even if it's been obvious for a while that it's nonexistent by now.
To be honest I am waiting to see the panels to see if I like or dislike it, I think that Saul is one of the many characters that should have stayed dead.
And while I have no doubt about Big Mom's survival and eventual return, I dread what Oda will again do with her after her abysmal treatment in Wano.

The only point that speaks to Big Mom being dead is that it was Law and Kidd who defeated her. Kaido though for sure is alive. Luffy never kills his opponent because Oda is a bitch
