Future Events The Final Saga

I dont know how credible the One Piece Wiki is in terms of information provided there so this post may not be as accurate as I want because I am basing it on info from the Wiki. As per the wiki there are 11 sagas in total until now and the post Wano period is listed as the Final Saga. When you compare the length of each saga you see that there are some very small ones like 40-50 chapters long and then you have the biggest Wano at 149 and DR at 148 chapters long.

The problem though in the post Wano period being called the Final Saga is that we are already 94 chapters into the saga and we have got Egghead and Elbaf (continuing). Based on the history of OP we are only 56 chapters away from this being the longest saga. Of course there is no official limit to how many chapters a saga can have or if the Final Saga is actually the final saga (its just used as a name and we get a new saga to wrap things up). But lets pretend that this is actually the Final Saga and lets increase the chapter limit from 149 to 200, even then it translates to like 3 years of serialization at max with about a 100 chapters to go.

The really scary part is not that OP ending is so close, it is that the fandom expects a clear and adequate ending and based on the plot points remaining its hard to believe that Oda will be able to address them as expected in 100 chapters.

We barely know anything about the current expected villains (Imu and Gorosei and HKs), where will we get the BBPs being built up as the villains, and as the final villains you expect them to get developed more than any previous villains. There is too much anticipation and hope for the mysteries to get solved and then you realize that there may not be enough time. And I hope Oda doesnt waste time on side characters now, we had too much of them in DR and Wano.

Then again, maybe this was the plan all along and the prepare for a roller coaster type comments were actually meant and not just empty hype.

This is by far going to be the longest saga. I won’t be surprised if there are 200 chapters more adding onto the 94 chapters that are already released or even more remaining. Oda is going to milk the final war to its core. All the plot points not being addressed is a given lol. Oda has regressed in terms of writing a lot, even wano was a mess in that aspect. There’s too much and I’ll be surprised if even 75% of the plot points are covered.

The ending is going to suck for a large part of the fanbase regardless of the length remaining. That’s pretty much a guarantee for a story this long. Not like the story hasn’t fallen into a painful decline for the past 600 chapters nearly anyways
You’re absolutely right. Because with it being so long a lot of the fan base is going to expect there not to be any plot holes or mysteries left and that’s inevitable.

That large portion of the fanbase you’re referring to is a cult that’s going to worship anything Oda puts out lmao. In their eyes there will be no flaws in the story regardless of how bad it becomes because they’re a cult according to whom Oda can do no wrong

That's majorly because people think of a lot of Arcs for their agenda.

Blackbeard fans wants an entire arc.
Imu fans wants an entire arc.
Akainu (idk why) wants an entire arc.

Rather I think , this is practically current if we look at marineford Saga.

- Sabaody ~ Egghead
- Amazon Lily ~ Elbaf
- Impel Down ~ No clue what but maybe BB vs Shanks or Cross guild focussed

- Marineford ~ Final War.

I expect Blackbeard to be taken down in the same arc as Imu.

Imu is the combined effort battle. Whereas BB will be final Team battle. Like how fairy tail played there final war cards. Zeref was taken down and then Acnologia was the final villain.

If that's the route oda gonna take , then 100~150 chapters will do.

Impel down parallel arc maybe also have Important fights.

I think raiding MG is on the books right now, this Elbaf arc and Ragnarok coupled with Loki and Imu getting involved means the WG is going down.

Compare this to Younko Saga:
1. Punk Hazard;
2. DressRosa;
3. Zou;
4. WCI;
5. Wano

In these terms, one Saga can include up to 500 chapters.

I believe Final Saga will be 300-400 chapters long:
1. Egghead(prologue);
2. Elbuff;
3. Davy Back / Final Island;
4. Laughtale
5. WG

I do tend to agree that we only have around 100 chapters of the story left. Maybe more, maybe less. But, probably not a lot more. I've even done the (questionable) math. And I come up with the story ending with Chapter 1254 on November 10 2028, just in time to wrap things up with Volume 122.
https://worstgen.alwaysdata.net/forum/threads/how-many-chapters-are-left.67155/page-2#post-6065635

Mind you, I will point out, it depends on if this is the Final "Saga" or the Final "SAGA".

....Let me explain.

There's actually two different kinds of "Sagas" in One Piece.
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Story_Arcs

There's the "thematic" Sagas, like East Blue, Alabasta, and the Summit War. These are collections of story arcs that all build towards a larger, epic conclusion. One larger storyarc, usually broken up into smaller arcs. These usually only last around 100 chapters or so, with the longest being Wano which was a 149 Chapter Saga.
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/East_Blue_Saga
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Arabasta_Saga
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Summit_War_Saga

And then there's the larger types of "SAGAS", which are a combination of everything Pre and Post Timeskip. There's only been two of these (if we don't count the Final Saga). The "Sea of Survival" SAGA (Pre-Timeskip), and the "Final Sea" SAGA (Post-Timeskip). These last MUCH longer, around 600 Chapters.
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Sea_of_Survival:_Super_Rookies_Saga
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/The_Final_Sea:_The_New_World_Saga

In the original Japanese, both of these types of "Sagas" use the same word. "Hen" or 編. This same word is also used for the even smaller "arcs" like Whole Cake and Levelry. So, that's VERY unhelpful for categorization. This one word can basically mean a smaller "arc", a larger "Saga", or a gigantic "SAGA".
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Whole_Cake_Island_Arc
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Levely_Arc

So, when Oda says that we're in the Final Saga, does he mean "Saga" or "SAGA"? It's hard to say.

Me, personally? I don't think Oda has another 400-500 Chapters left in him. His health is only getting worse as time goes on. Mistakes are starting to sneak through to the final product, like the unfinished chapter 1098 and the error-filled chapter 1127. So, personally, I do have a feeling we're in a smaller "Saga", rather than a larger "SAGA". Oda NEEDS One Piece to end sooner rather than later. Just so he doesn't keel over at his desk.

This still could end up being the largest of the smaller-Sagas, though. This Saga MIGHT end up being longer than Wano, when all is said and done. But, chances are, it won't be by much. Probably not by hundreds of chapters, at least.

As for the ending feeling rushed...yeah, that's probably going to be almost unavoidable. I've talked about it before a bit, but having a "rushed" or "sudden" or "abrupt" ending is actually kinda sorta a "artistic" way to end your story. It's called a Jo-ha-kyu or Kishotenketsu structure.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo-ha-kyū
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kishōtenketsu
https://worstgen.alwaysdata.net/for...e-end-at-this-point.64126/page-2#post-5867671

So, when we actually get around to the ending, I am halfway expecting it to come rather suddenly. That's just the way authors like to structure their stories over in Japan. We in the West are more used to a three-act structure. But, this is a little different. Still valid, but not what we in the West have grown accustomed to.

And I'm not really expecting Oda to answer EVERY one of our questions. Because, he's actually racked up quite a few over the years.
https://worstgen.alwaysdata.net/forum/threads/if-you-could-ask-oda.68175/page-2#post-6119248

I AM kind of hoping he gives us a "Annotated Guidebook" or a MASSIVE SBS Q&A after One Piece is all over. Something to explain what he intended to be foreshadowing or clues to the end, and what he didn't. Just to fill in some of the gaps in what the story told us. But, I'm not expecting every single question to be answered in the story itself. One Piece just has become too sprawling for that. I think most, if not all, the plot-relevant mysteries will be answered on the page. But, there's every chance we won't even learn who Luffy's mom is, as a part of the actual story, just as a example.

And some of these mysteries and questions might be something Oda wants to save for a sequel. Because you KNOW Shonen Jump is going to want SOMEONE to write a One Piece sequel, in the vein of Dragon Ball Super/Daima, Boruto or Bleach's (still upcoming?) Hell Arc. Even if Oda can't do it, some of these mysteries might get left on purpose for a future writer and artist to use.

Personally, I've tried to make my peace with the ending maybe being a bit more rushed than I'd like. But, I think overall, a shorter ending is better for everyone rather than one that gets dragged out. I could be very wrong, though. We'll have to see what happens.

Past 200 chapters I’d say

Oda said he wanted the most epic final arc ever
Given he had friendly rivalry with kishimoto people don't need to break their brains to do the math

Most people are low balling imo
It better be epic and long but not convoluted.

300 chapters remaining.

I still think Xebec is alive and is the man with the burn scar. I still believe, just like Zou, Whole Cake Island and Wano, this man with the last road poneglyph will have a major role in the final saga (even is own arc) just because he have that one last RP. The most important one.
Now, how Oda will play with this dude is up in the air. Sailing with a pitch black ship and anyone who dares to approach is sunked sound like the perfect scenario for all 4 yonkos to chase this one guy in a battle royale.
But that's just me.
Why I think is Xebec? Cuz Oda hasn't show his face yet, and it will made sense for him to have that last RP. Why so much mistery on a guy who is supposed to be dead?

If you asked me 5 years ago when One Piece will end(Final Saga), i' would have said in 2027 due One Piece 30th aniversary, however, we're in 2025 and this is no longer possible.

I bet Final Saga won't be as big as people think but at same time won't be short. There are still totemic points of the narrative that MUST not be ignored.

- Void Century, D. Willpower, God Valley, One Piece Treasure, Ancient Weapons, Red Line.
- Dragon, Akainu, Blackbeard, Xebec, Shanks, Gorosei, Garling, Fujitora, Kuzan, Aramaki, Mihawk, Buggy, Kidd, Law, Koby, Sabo and etc.

Anyway, i bet there will be more 2 arcs before the ending. One arc focused on World Government, other arc focused on One Piece treasure.

I dont think you should consider Final Saga the same as all those sagas listed on the Wiki.
Those sagas are mainly focused on one big island arc with a couple of pit stops before at best.

Final saga refers to a much bigger part of the story and should be compared to things like pre-TS and post-TS.
Those are decade+ long parts of the story and Final Saga will be similar to that as well.

Final Saga will have sagas within itself, WG war saga and Raftel Saga at least.

Do you think its a clone of Xebec or the original because he should be a mummy at this point, even tho can be countered by several plot devices?

I will maybe write a theory about it because I think I am able to predict the plot moving forward from here. But I won't be able to predict plot twists or stuff that will come out of nowhere and gets added into the story (the Gunkos of the world for example).

The raid on Marijoa and Imu being forced to act has something to do with what that explorer said about not staying in Elbaf for too long.

The Straw Hats is missing out a lot on what’s happening outside and I predict it will wrap things up faster than we think.

I believe the next arc is going to be a longer version of Reverie type arc covering the events while the Straw Hats were in Elbaf imo.
