I get it, but as long as the execution in the end is good, I am fine with what happened.
Like, if Gajeel just ends up defeating Zero through some bullshit, I would take back my words. But as of now, I think Mashima made the correct call.
Thats what I think will happen. Gajeel will win in a bullshit way like he always did with the FT members.
Zero was hype, dude is amongst the OGs of the series at it's best.
My hope is that he destroys Gajeel as well, and maybe we get a 2v1 where Midnight gets back up and Gajeel+Midnight takes him out.
Midnight and Gajeel against Zero would be really cool. Hopefully Mashima will show us this.
In that way, Midnight also gets his shine and narrative role with Zero/Brain, someone who was a father figure to him.
Remember that the only OS member that Brain truly cared for was Midnight - his prayer was that Midnight never lose. I hope that we get some narratives which address this aspect as well.
True and it would be really nice to see a flashback from them together. Why Brain choose him as his "son".
I would say it is top 3, with other contesters being Suzaku vs Selene, and Suzaku vs Natsu round 2.
I agree but another fight was imo one of the best ones too, Gajeel vs God Serena. God Serena who finaly showed us his other elements.
I tend to disagree.
Cobra and Racer did win. Cobra winning wasn't much of a shock, him and Midnight are the two main dudes in the group afterall. But Racer winning was a surprising turn of events, I didn't expect it.
That Racer won was a suprise I agree, but because Cobra is one of the main ones, I would prefer another one of the Seis. My problem with the Seis is that like you said Midnight and Cobra are always getting the most screentimes. I wish we would see more of Hoteye, I don't like this guy, but it would be still good too see more of him and his powers or from Angel or from Meldy. Meldy also has a lost magic and we never see good spells from her.
Well at least we saw Racer this time, that was nice, but I still wish we would have see more of him. Racer has a rare magic too his vehicle magic and he didn't use it in his fight. He only used his slow motion magic (or what the name of his other magic was). His enemy, Bird, also didn't use any spell from his black magic. So we still don't know what his magic can do.
I like it that OS got some wins out of this engagement, but that the villains still came out with more wins.
This is good. I like that Mashima mixed up things, instead of going with the predictable outcomes of all winning or all losing.
This is also good because Oracion Sechs losing without accomplishing anything would've been extremely underwhelming writing - like, why introduce them just to have them lose to original OS?
I know what you mean and I agree. Overall its much better that they got only some wins and could not defeat all of them.
I also agree that it would be really underwhelming if they can't accomplishing anything, the problem here is that this counts for both sides. Why let the OS member return only to show how powerful the new OS group is?
If they would at least have shown more spells but Hoteye didn't even show any spell in the last 16 years or so? Since the OS arc? Thats sad.
I will 100% agree with your take on other FT members taking them out. It would be underwhelming and predictable crap too.
I would prefer some other guild mages involved, with some mix of FT mages. I personally would have Lyon, Mira, Laxus and Rouge involved.
Same, I would also prefer other mages like Lyon, Kagura or so.
I also hope that we will see the Diabolos members again lol
But the idea with 2 vs 1 (Gajeel vs Zero) maybe we will see Elfman and Hoteye vs Gaia? Juvia and Meldy vs Gate? Mirajane and Angel vs Daemon?
Or Mashima is trolling? In the end Gajeel etc are only illusions? Midnight made them like he also made a Natsu illusion to trick Zero.
