Only two for each chapter sound amazing.
Don´t forget we are already in like 3-6Chapters into these fights.
We got lot of panels, given it is a biweekly manga, it is not bad.

Maybe Gate will not lose? Maybe he is a special demon? At least his ability is interesting.
Nice chapter.
It was great to see midnight vs zero not go down the cookie cutter typical way.
Brain/zero showing the versatility of a genius archmage was great.
We've seen self destruction circle back after decades at this point lol. Interesting that he used it on a magic itself, while in the main series it was shown being used on objects - mountain, Nirvana and Jellal.
Why didn't he use it on Midnight himself though? It's a rhetorical question because we know why lol, can't have good guys die off the bat
Interesting to see Juvia and Elfman. Guess that means B team is here. Laxus and Mira

It was. I liked it how Midnight used new spells and how Zero used his other personality. But it's a shame that Midnight will not be the one who will defeat him. I like Midnight and hoped he would defeat his "father"

I'm a midnight fan, and I'm fine how this fight was handled. He didn't fold, he showed growth. His showings of dark rondo magic further canonized the showings in starry arc. He modified/improved the genesis zero even.
He just faced one of the handful of few mages capable of dealing with his broken refractor magic.
OS did manage to take down two of the 6 opponents. 2-4 isn't that bad.
Unless they job to Juvia or something.
I couldn't care less for most of B team like Juvia or Mira though. Give me Laxus and Jellal. Gildarts too, but no way he's coming to fight these guys.
Last 3 chapters were fine.
But you enjoyed how Merc and Viernes were taken out?

Thats true, but I would still prefer that someone who isn't part of FT would defeat Zero especially because the OS members had the deepest connection with Zero. But yeah at least Midnight was defeated because Zero had a good counter magic.

I agree. But the thing is that OS/CS never had the chance to show us some good feats or the chance to win a battle. Mashima again used the FT members who will defeat the enemies and I don't like this.
Mirajane and the others could help Natsu etc against the F&6 members instead to help OS against the demons.
Same, but I still think that the DS (Natsu, Wendy, Gajeel, Laxus, Cobra, Sting, Rogue and Diabolos) should have fought them instead of people like Lucy, Brandish etc.

My hope is that he destroys Gajeel as well, and maybe we get a 2v1 where Midnight gets back up and Gajeel+Midnight takes him out.
In that way, Midnight also gets his shine and narrative role with Zero/Brain, someone who was a father figure to him.
Remember that the only OS member that Brain truly cared for was Midnight - his prayer was that Midnight never lose. I hope that we get some narratives which address this aspect as well.
It was definitely a good fight by FT sequel standards. Though I am unsure if it's the best.
I would say it is top 3, with other contesters being Suzaku vs Selene, and Suzaku vs Natsu round 2.
I tend to disagree.
Cobra and Racer did win. Cobra winning wasn't much of a shock, him and Midnight are the two main dudes in the group afterall. But Racer winning was a surprising turn of events, I didn't expect it.
I like it that OS got some wins out of this engagement, but that the villains still came out with more wins.
This is good. I like that Mashima mixed up things, instead of going with the predictable outcomes of all winning or all losing.
This is also good because Oracion Sechs losing without accomplishing anything would've been extremely underwhelming writing - like, why introduce them just to have them lose to original OS?
I will 100% agree with your take on other FT members taking them out. It would be underwhelming and predictable crap too.
I would prefer some other guild mages involved, with some mix of FT mages. I personally would have Lyon, Mira, Laxus and Rouge involved.
Let this be an opportunity for characters aside from FT to shine too!

Only hope is that the swordsman son of Ignia washes Erza and then Gildarts take over. I doubt it will happen tho, Mashima's golden girl need to look good!
I wonder where Suzaku is though, the only dude in the entire series who made Erza look like a jobber.
The fight itself was ok.
The only problem is that this dude was prime Viernes !!!!
Replace Viernes with some dude from Ignia's guild, with everything else remaining the same, and I would've called this great.
Why did Viernes restrict his dragon form by the way? We may never know I guess lol.
