Now, I understand because of Estrid's upbringing and because of her beliefs in superstitions and omens and stuff that that is the way that she WOULD react, completely terrified, but it doesn't even cross her mind to try to make the baby "not evil" / raise him with love. She just condemns him immediately AND had decided to leave while saying that he had died due to being stillborn.
Despite Loki's demon-like eyes, he was still born healthy and strong looking - even has Haralad's horns, so for her, that was the only thing "wrong" with him. What's frightening is how heartless Estrid was towards her own child AND it just to happened that Harald was out of the country because I'm pretty sure he would've raised hell at her should she had sounded off like that though ... she's fairly smart. She probably would have found some other way to have Loki discarded I feel.
I feel really bad for Loki because he was only a baby and dealt such an awful fate shortly after being born. He is a NEWBORN BABY being rejected by his mother and trying to get back to her by climbing all on his lonesome not understanding a thing, but still wanting accepted / loved.
This has to be the worst start to childhood that anyone as ever had in the history of One Piece because I don't think Oda will be able to top this. Screw Estrid even though I can understand her initial recoiling due to her beliefs/upbringing as stated above. She is, without a doubt, the Worst mother.
