A character who’s never been held accountable suddenly changing because he was made aware of the way his actions effect others and his views about giants being better than humans based on their size was challenged is pretty damn good.
It wasn’t an instant change as first he was clearly just trying to impress her, but the change was a gradual thing over the course of 20 years.
