There's no point in Oda calling him the WSS multiple times if he's not actually the WSS lol
It's not even a rumor like Kaido's title, it's treated the same as Whitebeard's. So he's likely above even Garling and Nusjuro.
Mihawk being #1 in the world is a joke. He’s the strongest swordsman no doubt but the strongest alive? Whoever genuinely believes this is going to be severely disappointed.

Considering we know they have a sword in marejois and in their book? lol
Just using a sword doesn't make you a swordsman, again King and Queen prove this.
If Imu primarily fights with a sword then he's a swordsman, but so far nothing suggests he is one, especially given that he's very likely to be a Luffy opponent and we never saw Luffy fight and defeat an arc boss that also happens to be a swordsman.

I believe it's inevitable that Shanks dunked on Kaido extra hard. Rocks, Whitebeard and Roger must've beaten or at least dominated Kaido so hard at least once in his youth to be put in the silhouette. Oden was on the verge of defeating him.

Had Shanks only pulled a BM where they split the sky and have a couple irrelevant clashes I don't think he would've made it into the silhouette.
Yep. Shanks is 20 years younger than Kaido, is a greenhorn compared to him yet Kaido put him on the same standing as his former captain, the WSM, the pirate king and the guy that scarred and almost killed him.
We know being able to clash with Kaido is not enough, BM fought him equally for 3 days and she wasn't featured.
I don't think Shanks outright defeated Kaido but at very least he made him feel some kind of fear.

If Imu is a swordsman, i.e someone that primarily fights with a sword and is skilled with it, then yes.
If he just wields it in the same way King and Queen do then he's not a swordsman, so he's not susceptible to the WSS title.
That fan boy logic is be so fucking stupid even more so for Imu .
It's not like he want to be know the world and would even give fuck about the WSS. ( he is king of the world for 800 years )
Then again we already see Imu being a DF hax person .

I never said he was strongest alive in general, I'm just saying he's the strongest swordsman alive so people like Shanks and Issho are below him. Imo Mihawk probably loses to Warcury and definitely loses to Imu. Maybe Dragon too. Not sure

Knowing Oda he’ll have Kaido say Shanks is joyboy afterwards

Reborn

Throughout Heaven & Earth,I alone am d Honored One
I sure he would beat Kaido but not wash him .
Side note why does so much of the fanbase think it was roger and garp vs rocks in some 2 on 1 fight .
It was roger pirates and garp with marines vs rock pirates ( plus HK)
It's deduction

Because of past interaction we had between Roger and Xebec

And, it makes sense that captain of Roger pirates+ leader of marine faction fought captain of Rocks pirates....

Grandmaster swordsman = greatest swordsman. Both mean that its the best at that proficient.
I'm speaking about the Japanese version too and that's an error, WSS and Grandmaster Swordsman are 2 different titles..
When Mihawk will lose the WSS title, he will still remain a Grandmaster Swordsman(Daikengou)..

The WSS is a Daikengou, but a Daikengou isn't necessarily the WSS..

Mihawk's introductory box literally says, Sekai Saikyou no Kenshi, World Strongest Swordsman..
