When i read, the World Strongest Swordsman is above all Swordsmen..

It's like i'm reading someone claiming that Mihawk is the Strongest Swordsman purely based on Strength, nothing else, no Haki, no Black Blade, no Hawk Eyes powers, Straight up '''''' raw Strength ''''.. Mental Degeneracy at it's finest.. Keep it up Zoro fans!..

:myman:
Strongest swordsman will win in a fight against anyone who uses Sword and Haki
His overall package like physical strength + haki + skill + speed would outpeform that of others.

Well another thing is that Mihawk should have stronger overall Haki than all other swordsmen.

It's the radicals and the stupidity of it all

I feel like when powerscaling other characters it's simpler because there are no stipulations. Simply compare the 2 characters and move on

But when anyone discusses Shanks and Mihawk (a matchup that is entirely decided by narrative rather than feats) it devolves into a nonsensical conversation about "what is swordsmanship" and "who qualifies as a swordsman"

Like when I come to a thread and the first thing I see is "Shanks could probably perform Divine Departure with a baseball bat so he isn't a swordsman" I automatically leave

And like you said it's one of the many core community defining debates that no one is willing to budge an inch on. So that makes it even worse
Some Admiral fans do it too, I've seen people claiming Issho isn't a swordsman or at least not a pure one
There's this strange type of people who just get unbelievably angry and disingenuous when their favorite fictional characters are weaker than characters they dislike, and it's weird because it's usually characters who aren't really focused on strength anyway.
For example if Kaido was below, say, Big Mom, that'd be bad for him since strength is a big part of his character and he's constantly called the WSC with him feeding into that as well. Obviously he's not the strongest alive (that's likely Imu) but it'd still be weird if he were below people like Big Mom or Kuzan imo.
Meanwhile, characters like Shanks and Issho aren't loved for their strength, it's not an integral part of them, so it's totally fine for them to below Mihawk or Kaido or whoever else. Shanks never brags about his strength nor does he have a title as the WSM or WSS. They're a stark contrast to Kaido and Big Mom who have been fighting and trying to be the strongest since they were born

Don't you think accepting that strongest swordsman in the world is stronger than every other swordsman is the easiest and least toxic thing to do?

You can say Mihawk is trash, Zoro is a bum etc but deep down you know this is a shonen and the main cast will be the strongest of all time when the series end.

Luffy wont be strongest PK/God of Liberation or whatever of the current era but of all time.
The same goes for Zoro and the rest of the crew.
No no you don’t understand law shanks Kidd sabo and vergo and marine fodder must remain stronger than the deuteragonist even after Eos and if you don’t agree you’re a zoro fanboy

Nope.. Only Strenght, no Haki, no Skills, no Speed, No Black Blade.. Actually Mihawk's Black Blade was given to him because Mihawk is only raw Strength.. That's what '' Strongest '' Swordsman means..
