if you look at the other strawhats the answer becomes obvious. the titanic captains are not final villain material. zoro's final fight is against mihawk, who has the same eye pattern as imu. both captain and first mate will have their last major fight against someone with ringed eyes.

Davy Jones is an octopus in PoTC lore, and an octopus has 3 hearts. Blackbeard will become the new Davy Jones as he absorbs Xebec and Imu to become a god — copied straight from the Bible. How? Possibly using the Personality Surgery via Ope Ope, he will get all 3 of their hearts and therefore their souls. Xebec’s heart is already inside Teach and that explains his atypical characteristics (never sleeps; can eat 2 dfs). The final heart is missing, and that final heart belongs to Imu — Davy Jones’ demon of a lover. She’s basically the equivalent of Calypso.

The 3 personas of God:
The Father — Xebec
The Son — Teach
The Holy Spirit — Imu

I think Rocks is still alive in some capacity in Teach via the Ope Ope no Mi.

I can see Imu, Teach, or Rocks being the final villain. Also possibly Akainu.

I'm also not positive we've even seen the final villain yet, after it took 900 chapters to even real IMU EXISTS

Brings a tear to the eye, to see a son surpass the father.

I'd actually prefer Blackbeard but I still think it's Imu for 4 reasons.

1. The whole Nika/ Joy Boy thing.
Luffy is the chosen one to topple WG and Imu and create a new World.

2. Imu being a much more impactful and important villain than Blackbeard:
Imu rules the World since 800 years now and created tyranny while Blackbeard is just an evil pirate and Wannabe king for now.

3. Luffy destroys the dreams of his opponents.
So chances are high Luffy stops Blackbeard before the latter can achieve his goal of topping Imu and becoming king of the world.

4. Blackbeards crew being too weak.
Unless they get a huge power boost or more top tiers joining, his crew is far too weak to be FV material.

I really hope Blackbeard, the Rocks phrase: “ I’ll be back” is really promising and someone is attacking Mary Geoise ( most likely Blackbeard). This chapter hypes Imu so I still see him/her as the final villain. 70% Imu/ 30% Blackbeard.

I want the same to bet on Blackbeard, time to finish what his father started
