Something we have to consider is that Teach never did anything evil to be evil. He always had a purpose. For him, the ends always justify the means. The reasons for his rampaging on Drum island are unknown but I am very sure we will find out some purpose behind it.
Imu on the other hand was and is portrayed as absolutely antagonistic. Directly or indirectly responsible for each and every arc of the series.
So the answer for me is clear. Teach and his crew are as redeemable as Croc and Mr 1 (and Mr 2 and Mr 3) are.
Imu and his zombie soldiers are not.
I am not sure what Oda will do of the thousands of CDs inhabiting Mary Joa.
