Seems like the story parts are structured in such a way that the fishmen are the ultimate big bad.
East Blue ended with Arlong as the top dog.
Paradise ended with Hody Jones as the top dog, FMI is the last stop before the New World.

New World or rather Final Saga will likely also have a fishman at the end of it.
And since we had Strawhats utterly demolishing fishmen in the previous two encounters, it's time for a payback.
Davy Jones will also be a fishman, a final villain material.

Oda needs to "remember" that Law can swap personalities and thus part of our souls. Also give Immortality which is linked to our souls, eternal lifespan, humm...
