I don’t think Roger cuts with his sword attacks, it’s more like a blast or shockwave.But Garp decked him before he could get the full attack off. Or Garp Guarded with Conquerors , he’s not touching Roger when he hits.
They eventually fought on the same side. Roger went there for Rocks, not for Marines. If even Roger skipped fighting Garp, why would Rayleigh be stuck with Bogard?

Pointed out earlier that BM had 30 kids by the time God Valley happened, and Teach is 40 so he was born before it too. So it is possible. Weird as fuck if Oda went that route though.
It would honestly explain why he has a “odd body” -Marco.Big moms body still has some weird unexplained force feild thing going on aswell as being abnormally huge and strong despite having normal sized parents
