Using CoC defensively doesn’t seem like a much more advanced technique than using it offensively.

I can see it ! Fjalar is a big rooster. There are 3 of them. Fjalar is prophesized to let a cry out when Ragnarok is about to start that will awaken the sleeping Giants ( see Galley-La Giants)

Imu did not command Harald to eat the DF.
Harald told loki to eat it and as Harlad got taken more control he wanted to eat it .

We don't know when Harald tried to pick ragnir up. It could have been years ago.
