He's an egomaniac and money minded. To get to him, you have to either give him a deal which serves his purpose or something he desires. He craves a Nobel and he thrives on validation and attention.
She's not elevating Nobel prize .. she's giving him what elevates his self image and this in itself is enough to generate attention on which he thrives.
In short, by offering her Nobel, she feeded his ego and added legitimacy to his desire that he deserves Nobel. A classic example of boot licking and echo chamber of "yes men"
