Can someone "well-versed" into US immigration history try to clarify what's the difference between ICE and other anti-immigration policies before Trump ? Are people only realizing what conservatism is now and its current stage ? From what I gather, the main difference is about the way it's done but it's not even effective. I wonder how long they gonna take to realize that expelling millions is definitely longer than the nazi way. Probably a few years.
It's also pathetic how the far-right tries to make its militia look so cool with the cringiest edgy names:
-SS
-ICE
-BRAV
-KKK
-CUCKOLD
These kinds of names are kind of a giveaway to the kind of government that a country has.
BRAV (brave) is from Macron-era downfall toward the far-right.
KKK is infamous and despite not being created by the president, they had strong connections to power.
History is led by the masses and sometimes some dudes seen as "great" individuals. But it's not already written.
There's so much to go over when it comes to U.S. history with immigration and my attention span is short, but there's no difference from standpoint of effectiveness. The U.S. has historically been very fickle when it comes to immigration, and almost all anti-immigration sentiment has strong ties to racism, white supremacy, and xenophobia(can elaborate if asked).
As of now, what drives Trump's anti-immigration campaign is the thought of an "invasion at the border"(this sentiment was pushed numerous times in the past), and that immigrants are bringing criminals, drugs, stealing jobs, replacing white americans(the great replacement), and harming the american way of life.
The facts:
- Immigrants are 3x less likely to commit crime than nation-bornAmericans
- Vast majority of fentanyl and other drugs are smuggled through official ports of entry by Americans
- Immigrants are only 18% of the american labor force
- Majority of immigrants get jobs that most Americans arent willing to do
- Majority of immigrants are in jobs like service, transportation, construction and maintenance
- Unemployment reached record lows numerous times despite record high immigration
- Immigrants on welfare is laughably small compared to white people on welfare, consuming 27% less per capita
- Half of the immigrants are caught and turned away at the Mexico border
- Majority of immigrants crossing the border are young people, parents and children
Every single fear mongering talking point spouting from Trump and his administration are just blatant lies. Every reason given to justify ICE on the streets are grossly unfounded. Their methods are simply repeats of the same false talking points and actions used since the 1790s in the US.
