Speculations Usopp will fight Imu 1v1 before Elbaf ends

#1
Usopp is the weakest SH
Imu is the strongest person alive

Usopp is a “god” in epithet
Imu is a god in actuality

A lot of people have been wondering about what Usopp might do in Elbaf. Thematically, I think it would make a lot of sense for Usopp to face Imu 1v1.

Not because Usopp is capable of challenging Imu in any conceivable way. But because doing so would be a way for Oda to highlight Usopp’s bravery.

It would be like Captain America standing up to Thanos, Koby standing up to Akainu, or the Bike guy standing up to the fish monster in One Punch Man.

In fighting Imu, Usopp would showcase the greatest most bravery any character has ever shown in the series. He would willingly fight a losing battle against a character infinitely stronger than him, because he knows it is the right thing to do.

You know, I could actually see that happening.

I feel like the only way we're getting rid of Imu is by scaring them off. And who's better at that, than our God, Usopp? Between Perona and Sugar, Usopp already has a history of being the one who defeats the characters who use some form of "mind manipulation". I could see Usopp finding a way to get under Imu's skin. Getting Imu to retreat, somehow.

And I kind of wonder if it'll somehow involve Joyboy?

Imu didn't seem to react at all to seeing Luffy in his Nika form. And, when you stop and think about it, Imu actually doesn't really seem all that concerned about Nika, in general. I don't think Imu likes NIka, but Imu doesn't seem offended by anyone knowing about Nika. The Giants still worship Nika. Whos-Who knew about Nika. There still seems to be churches dedicated to Nika around the world, like the one Kuma and Bonney lived in. "Scary Stories" about Nika are even told to Celestial Dragon children. It seems like Imu never erased Nika from history.

But, you know who Imu seems to have worked VERY hard to erase all knowledge of? Joyboy. It was Joyboy's Haki Knot that freaked Imu out. No one knows who Joyboy is anymore. Unless they're old enough to remember him while he still lived, like Zunesha and Emet. Or unless they're gone out of their way to study the history recorded on the Ponglyphs, like Roger, Robin, and Vegapunk.

A lot more people in the World seem aware of Nika, rather than Joyboy. It seems to me that Imu worked a LOT harder to erase all mention of Joyboy from the World, but not Nika. Imu isn't afraid of Nika...Imu is afraid of Joyboy, specifically.

So, could Usopp freak Imu out by lying about being a descendant or reincarnation of Joyboy? Would that be enough to send Imu running scared?

Alternatively, I'll just point out that we've never actually seen Joyboy's face. I think we're all assuming that Joyboy looks a lot like Luffy, because that would make so much sense, given how similar their journeys have been. But, what if Joyboy...actually had a long nose like Usopp? What if Usopp is basically a spitting image of Joyboy? I don't think Imu has actually gotten a good look at Usopp on Elbaph, yet. And Joyboy does seem to have been more of a "planner", setting up Haki Knots, sending Toki on time-travel missions, and organizing the disbursement of the Poneglyphs around the World. Having such legendary future-sight that he seemed to be able to predict the future. That kind of stuff feels like it fits Usopp's character more than Luffy. Usopp could actually BE a descendant of Joyboy! Possibly even inheriting Joyboy's legendary future-sight capable Observation Haki. Which could also explain why his lies keep coming true...he's actually getting "glimpses" of the future that he thinks he's just imagining. That might be enough to freak Imu out. I know that would make ANOTHER Strawhat a nepo-baby...but it WOULD give Usopp a chance to get a upgrade.

Maybe that's going too far? But, I have a feeling that if Usopp did face off against Imu directly, Joyboy would somehow find a way to come up during their conversation. If only because that's the only thing we've seen Imu be afraid of, so far.

So, I think it's possible this could happen. And revealing that Usopp is actually a descendant of Joyboy would definitely count as Usopp finally getting a moment to shine on Elbaph. Hopefully, Usopp at least gets something to do, even if this idea never comes true, though.

I am a strong advocate of Usopps lies that turn into reality. I mean he basically just told us that Chopper would achieve his dream / final goal before they even met out of his desire to make his mother well again. And later, when he met Kaya, he also wanted to make her feel well again, telling her his stories (which some of them also turned into reality).

Looking this far into the future is really unheard of, only paralleled by Madame Shyarlys prophecies.

But, what better place for another one to become real than Elbaf ? I know this isn't new, but people speculated for a very long time that Usopp might be inspired by the legendary Greek storyteller Aesop, who has many famous Fables attested to him. How fitting that Elbaf backwards spells Fable, as in Aesops Fables.

Another hint to that could be the fact that he was trained by Heracles, another famous character in Greek Histories.

The thing that makes this more interesting is that there is very little evidence that Aesop even existed. He is just a legendary figure, similar to how Usopps tales are spread around the World with his Statues etc.

The one cover story we saw on Skypea is still very mysterious to me. I mean, Luffy was the one that freed them from Enel, yet they created a statue in usopps honor, with the Kanji written for God. This will certainly come back into the story somehow again later on.

It will be glorious. Can't wait for Imus reaction facing Usopp.

We have a different definition of fighting 1vs1...
Usopp might indeed face against Imu, alone by himself, but I wouldnt call that "fighting 1vs1".
He can display the strength of his willpower but is most likely it, similar to vs Sugar scenario.

Well, there is a fine line between can and will. I believe he can 100%. But will Oda let him do it ? I don't know. Remember how Usopp woke up Luffy Sanji and Zoro when their Shadows were stolen ?

The Qilins ability to put people to sleep is nothing but child's play to him at this point.

The Nightmare abilities can make this more interesting for sure.
