Speculations Kizaru wasn't "performing"

People say Kizaru was "performing" the entire time he was fighting Luffy meaning that he never used his full strength and actually purposefully lost.

The truth is that he got his ass beat and then had a revelation partway through his fight after being manhandled for most of it.

The fact that he got up doesn't mean much when all he did was use the last of his strength to give Luffy a fighting chance against more enemies.
- Kizaru was scared of trying to stop the Five Elders himself, so he got Luffy to do it for him.

no, he never wanted the five elders to lose on Egghead, he's just second guessing his decisions that he's made. Kizaru isn't team strawhat.

Imagine if Imu cant gas out Goofy like Kizaru barely trying
:Varys_Choke:
Reminder all this revisionism about Luffy not being yonko level happened as a coping mechanism after he got food diffed by a conflicted Kizaru. Kaido already etablished that G2-G3 Luffy was yonko level ("I recognize you as someone that can go truly go toe-to-toe with me") and coming out of Wano many had Luffy as strongest alive characters aside from his future main opponents like Teach.

If Luffy gets a decent performance against Imu who is confirmed to have the highest haki level in the verse (aside maybe from Soyboy ), people will just have to admit Kizaru is this guy

Many readers of this manga also think its unreasonable that giants can be neg diffed if you can credibly threaten to kill or kidnap their children first

at least by the time the fight ended kizaru was giving luffy food and falling down exhausted. To me it always seemed the logical reading was yeah, some kind of showing that he was putting his hopes on Luffy and thought he could save the day, and wasn't just pretending to be exhausted. It wasn't a guy helping a guy he beat in battle escape, it looked more like Kizaru begging Luffy to not let Bonney die.

I never understood reading kizaru's last act of desperation being "getting a pirate in fighting shape" to somehow be proof he is much stronger than the pirate. More like he couldn't do it, Luffy could. For mental reasons, sure, but he also seemed to have genuine confidence in Luffys strength after fighting him. Even for kizaru getting your head turned into rubber and your brain displaced several feet horizontally fucks you up

I was surprised that Kizaru, despite being the embodiment of light, struggled to land a clean hit on Luffy, even though he was fast enough to gradually wear his stamina down. Next time, they likely won’t face each other, Kizaru will instead be taken on by one of the “wings,” Sanji, the fastest man alive.
