I have been thinking about the next level of PU for Sanji in particular and for the M3 and what it means for the OP power system in general. Throughout the series we had the three distinct power systems you could say, the mundane power through tech, martial arts, weapons, skills, etc... which is pretty self explanatory, then DF which is essentially magic of the OP world which comes in a variety of ways, and then we have Haki which could be classified as a low end cultivation system.
Haki has been pretty basic since the beginning, even when Oda expands on it, it still remain pretty in application and understanding. However with the introduction of Maki, of Demonic Aura, the power system of Haki transcends from being a basic DBesque cultivation power system to a Dao cultivation power system, a life path power system.
Maki is obviously the demonic/devilish and evil path to power. It's a path to power, or as Oda called, a path of Domination, through corruption and oppression. The way Oda described it, corruption is the first step to domination, which I guess is why the CDs commit so many evil in the world from mass kidnapping and grape to genociding whole civilizations. The next step is Contract which in my guess is a self commitment to tread the path of evil, a soul contact you could say with one's own self, or possibly another soul that treads the Dao of evil. Finally, after the actualisation of the soul contract you access the military power of Maki of the evil path.
Now with Maki, the Dao of evil, introduced, it's almost guaranteed that there is a Dao of goodness. This power could be called Tenki, or Heavenly power, which in opposition of Maki, it's the heavenly/Godly path to power or as Oda day, path to Domination but it's through freedom and purefication instead of corruption and oppression. My guess this power, this Tenki, will be white flames and thst it's Nika's godly powers. That's why he's called the white warrior.
I think in opposition to Maki, the first step in acquiring Tenki is purifying corruption and not succumbing to it. This purification could be internal and external. Next is contract, which is not different from Maki. It's a soul contract to one's self or or someone treading the heavenly/Godly path. And then comes power, or Tenki.
Now after recognizing what's Maki and the very likely Tenki or whatever Oda ends up calling, what do these two paths of power mean to the M3.
Let's go to Sanji first. To understand Sanji's next path to power, we need to pinpoint the source of Corruption inside of him. Imo this source is two fold. The fiery heart that burn hotter than flame, and the Germa heart of cold ice. Here we could see the next hurdle that Sanji needs to overcome as one of his hearts is essentially inert or sealed away. Imo, Sanji is geared more towards the Demonic path than the heavenly one. But unlike Imu, it won't be fully demonic so he won't have Maki, but something similar. His path to power and Domination is demonic but it's through Love not evil. He first needs to fully embrace his Germa heritage and that wether he likes it or not he's still his father's son, and for the sake of Luffy and his crew, he will and that would his soul Contract and commitment with his inner self. With this Sanji will have access to his full potential. Imo this will manifest in rendering him completely immune to fire. Just like how his Burning heart let's his body able to burst into flames, his cold heart will render his body immune to fire and that way he could manifest his strongest inner fire which his body couldn't withstand previously. This fire is going to be either a Pink or Black Pink fire imo. That is Sanji's full power of love born from the union of both his parents legacy to him. Wether this fire will hav a special ability or just the next level of fire power depends entirely on Oda's decision.
Next is Zoro. Like previously with Sanji, we need to pinpoint his inner source of corruption, and like Sanji, he also has two, Asura and Death, his two inner spirits. His Asura spirit symbolizes his WSS ambition and what he's willing to endure in the path towards achieving it. It's the path of slaughter and bloodshed that Zoro committed himself to and that's the journey we have mostly seen for far. However imo that journey and his spirit of Asura has been the one leading him in life so far instead of him being the master of his destiny. To overcome that state of being comes in his inner spirit of death or the grim reaper. This one is subtler and I think it relates to Zoro's inner fear of failure and death, but not just any type of death, just an ignoble one, similar to how Kuina died. Zoro will gladly face death in his path towards WSS and to full the promise he had with Kuina, however how simple and pathetic for lack of better word her death has been has left a deep trauma deep inside his psyche. And for that Zoro will have to overcome that trauma and the spirit of death inside himself to fully master his spirit of Asura and reach the next threshold of power. Unlike Sanji, Zoro is geared more towards the heavenly path imo. However, his won't be fully heavenly either, so he won't have Tenki, but something close to it. So instead of purifying his inner spirit of death he would tame it and then seal it inside Enma, and that would be his Contract, and finally that's how he will forge it into a Black Blade.
That leaves Luffy. His corruption is obviously the Will of Nika inside his DF power. I don't think it's a normal corruption though. Nika is the god of freedom so his will would be pure Tenki. So Luffy will have two choices, either he fully embraces the will of Nika and becomes a godly avatar of Tenki, or reject that will and impose his own version of Heavenly path. Oda could go many ways with this and I could see Luffy fully embracing Nika for a while at least to access Tenki and defeat Imu, and then by EOS he rebels and forge his own heavenly path to freedom and Tenki.
So what do you guys think of this Maki and Tenki business?
