What will be Oda vengeance if Sanji wins the world popularity poll ?

I have been thinking about the next level of PU for Sanji in particular and for the M3 and what it means for the OP power system in general. Throughout the series we had the three distinct power systems you could say, the mundane power through tech, martial arts, weapons, skills, etc... which is pretty self explanatory, then DF which is essentially magic of the OP world which comes in a variety of ways, and then we have Haki which could be classified as a low end cultivation system.

Haki has been pretty basic since the beginning, even when Oda expands on it, it still remain pretty in application and understanding. However with the introduction of Maki, of Demonic Aura, the power system of Haki transcends from being a basic DBesque cultivation power system to a Dao cultivation power system, a life path power system.

Maki is obviously the demonic/devilish and evil path to power. It's a path to power, or as Oda called, a path of Domination, through corruption and oppression. The way Oda described it, corruption is the first step to domination, which I guess is why the CDs commit so many evil in the world from mass kidnapping and grape to genociding whole civilizations. The next step is Contract which in my guess is a self commitment to tread the path of evil, a soul contact you could say with one's own self, or possibly another soul that treads the Dao of evil. Finally, after the actualisation of the soul contract you access the military power of Maki of the evil path.

Now with Maki, the Dao of evil, introduced, it's almost guaranteed that there is a Dao of goodness. This power could be called Tenki, or Heavenly power, which in opposition of Maki, it's the heavenly/Godly path to power or as Oda day, path to Domination but it's through freedom and purefication instead of corruption and oppression. My guess this power, this Tenki, will be white flames and thst it's Nika's godly powers. That's why he's called the white warrior.

I think in opposition to Maki, the first step in acquiring Tenki is purifying corruption and not succumbing to it. This purification could be internal and external. Next is contract, which is not different from Maki. It's a soul contract to one's self or or someone treading the heavenly/Godly path. And then comes power, or Tenki.

Now after recognizing what's Maki and the very likely Tenki or whatever Oda ends up calling, what do these two paths of power mean to the M3.

Let's go to Sanji first. To understand Sanji's next path to power, we need to pinpoint the source of Corruption inside of him. Imo this source is two fold. The fiery heart that burn hotter than flame, and the Germa heart of cold ice. Here we could see the next hurdle that Sanji needs to overcome as one of his hearts is essentially inert or sealed away. Imo, Sanji is geared more towards the Demonic path than the heavenly one. But unlike Imu, it won't be fully demonic so he won't have Maki, but something similar. His path to power and Domination is demonic but it's through Love not evil. He first needs to fully embrace his Germa heritage and that wether he likes it or not he's still his father's son, and for the sake of Luffy and his crew, he will and that would his soul Contract and commitment with his inner self. With this Sanji will have access to his full potential. Imo this will manifest in rendering him completely immune to fire. Just like how his Burning heart let's his body able to burst into flames, his cold heart will render his body immune to fire and that way he could manifest his strongest inner fire which his body couldn't withstand previously. This fire is going to be either a Pink or Black Pink fire imo. That is Sanji's full power of love born from the union of both his parents legacy to him. Wether this fire will hav a special ability or just the next level of fire power depends entirely on Oda's decision.

Next is Zoro. Like previously with Sanji, we need to pinpoint his inner source of corruption, and like Sanji, he also has two, Asura and Death, his two inner spirits. His Asura spirit symbolizes his WSS ambition and what he's willing to endure in the path towards achieving it. It's the path of slaughter and bloodshed that Zoro committed himself to and that's the journey we have mostly seen for far. However imo that journey and his spirit of Asura has been the one leading him in life so far instead of him being the master of his destiny. To overcome that state of being comes in his inner spirit of death or the grim reaper. This one is subtler and I think it relates to Zoro's inner fear of failure and death, but not just any type of death, just an ignoble one, similar to how Kuina died. Zoro will gladly face death in his path towards WSS and to full the promise he had with Kuina, however how simple and pathetic for lack of better word her death has been has left a deep trauma deep inside his psyche. And for that Zoro will have to overcome that trauma and the spirit of death inside himself to fully master his spirit of Asura and reach the next threshold of power. Unlike Sanji, Zoro is geared more towards the heavenly path imo. However, his won't be fully heavenly either, so he won't have Tenki, but something close to it. So instead of purifying his inner spirit of death he would tame it and then seal it inside Enma, and that would be his Contract, and finally that's how he will forge it into a Black Blade.

That leaves Luffy. His corruption is obviously the Will of Nika inside his DF power. I don't think it's a normal corruption though. Nika is the god of freedom so his will would be pure Tenki. So Luffy will have two choices, either he fully embraces the will of Nika and becomes a godly avatar of Tenki, or reject that will and impose his own version of Heavenly path. Oda could go many ways with this and I could see Luffy fully embracing Nika for a while at least to access Tenki and defeat Imu, and then by EOS he rebels and forge his own heavenly path to freedom and Tenki.

So what do you guys think of this Maki and Tenki business?

It's an interesting theory ^^. "Tenki" in particular is an interesting take and something that also crossed my mind (i.e. god ki ) as something that Oda could potentially introduce for Luffy/Nika when the concept of maki was introduced but tbh I'm not quite sure Oda is going to overcomplicate Haki this late into the series particularly since like you've pointed out Haki is still pretty basic as is and Oda's not really doing that great a job at depicting it. Also last chapter kinda changed my mind on the whole god ki business.

Rather than introducing god ki to oppose maki, I think Oda is going to utilize CoC instead and I feel like we've already kinda seen signs of this with CoC being the only apparent way to combat the Holy Knights. Reason being that Oda put quite bit of emphasis on to "domination" (i.e being subjugated by Imu) being a pre-requisite to being able to wield maki. Loki's line about refusing to be dominated by anybody also stood out to me. Then there is Joyboy who is the anithesis of Imu and the first ever pirate who like Luffy prefers freedom (i.e. lives by his own rules) over domination.

So I think this whole battle against maki is going to be themed around the dominated vs the dominant.

With regards to Maki in general given how unmotivated Oda is for building an intricate power system for this series it is likely that even Maki is a lot simpler than we think it is. Might simply be something that comes about as a result of a deal with the devil. Kinda like how a deal with the devil allows you to achieve your goals but comes with caveats in typical fiction. With Domi-Reversi the cost for immense power is life-span & sanity whereas with the holy knights all we know for now is the you lose your own will and become subservient to Imu’s.

So again it pretty apparent that ‘will’ is going to be an important factor here.

In the case that Sanji is able to use maki in the future it’d be bcoz like Imu he’s a devil that’s a monarch (i.e can dominate others).

Just my quick two pence after giving it a quick read :p

Will give it another read later ^^

What if there is 2 kind of fruits.
God fruits that born from good desires vice versa Devil fruits that born from evil desires but in the past god fruits lost it name after void century. These 2 kind of fruits have it base haki's nature like maki/tenki and it's present as cloud scarf colors.but still cloud scarf is zoan exclusive for now tho.

maybe if the maki/tenki and fruit's nature is real. we will see killingham cloud scarf turn black from overwhelming maki buff.

chopper fruit might be one of those fruits with good nature so it can canceled out domi reversi :wonderland:
white scarf for chopper if he get one

With regard to the powerups for the wings this arc, looking at theirs PUs since Enies Lobby, it wasn’t really obvious on EL with Diable Jambe & Ashura but it’s increasing looking like Oda’s going two unique routes with both of them. With Sanji he seems to be going the route of physical manifestation of supernatural abilities (i.e.Diable Jambe, Gene Awakening [Lineage Factor] - Exoskeleton) wheres as with Zoro there is an emphasis on the spiritual (i.e Ashura, killing intent etc.). With the latter there is usually an empashsis on his spirit/aura since pre-ts and even here on Elbaf Oda's put quite a bit of emphasis on how much aura he seems to have with Luffy pointing out this at CoC has been leaking out of him.

So I think for their Powerups on Elbaf Oda will be taking that up a notch. So we might very well see the full potential of what Diable Jambe & Ashura are respectively.

With regards to Sanji, can’t really shake the feeling that "Maki" is the natural progression for him but been a bit conflicted with that because of how malicious it is being portrayed to be but then I remembered that conflict in itself is a baked into Sanji’s character makeup so Oda might be able to make it work if he meshes Maki with PoL. Assuming Maki in itself is something that can only be wielded by malicious beings then maybe Sanji will able to harness its power without the negative baggage via PoL 🤔

Problem with PoL in general though, is that it’s pretty vague and it’s a bit difficult to envisage how Oda applies it so this might be one way.

Though admittedly I’m still a bit conflicted on the above Maki+PoL ting as I have no idea what direction Oda is planning to go with PoL.

I still don’t think any defined PUs will take place this arc. Just set up for future ones. I can see Maki taking the role of the raid suit for Sanjis future development where it creates a shortcut for great power that Sanji can exploit only for him to reject it and awaken a different one

That is horrible le writing . Luffy is going to be approaching PK+ levels and you have Sanji capped oit at YC1. He needs a power up and he needs it soon.

I think Sanji has both haki and maki but this might be actually good for him, when two opposing forces clash a vortex happens like the wind vortex in punk hazard after akainus magma and Aikojis ice clashed. Sanjis eyebrows are also wortex shaped and when he uses both his powers he is the strongest like when diable jambe became ifrit jambe because of his exoskeleton. We also know Sanji can actually make even hotter flames then ifrit jambe but even his exoskeleton won't be able to bear it. Sanjis powers also comes from love and science which can also be considered opposite forces since science is cold while love is hot.

I think with Imus kick Sanji may have died like how Luffy died against Kaido in Wano or i mean why make him go against last boss so soon without even Kings haki. With this death comes an opportunity which is awakening, yes exoskeleton is like a Zoan DF and has its own will which made Sanjis brothers cold and cruel, i mean perfect soldiers. By the way i don't think Sanjis brothers are awakened and that is why they can keep some of their humanity so they are more like normal Zoans.

I am not sure what will awakened exoskeleton bring to Sanji, exoskeleton shouldn't be all his power though that may also be the case and he can get even stronger exoskeleton which will make him able to use even more hotter flames, move faster, be stronger, harder skin etc... I think in this form Sanji will be bigger and Black skinned cause Oda makes harder things black also in one piece mass also matters a lot. Imu can become bigger by storing fire to his body and Sanji may also do that to some extent or maybe not, ı don't want Sanji to be too big may be Kaido lvl would be good.

The way i see it sanjis mother gave him strongest emotions which is hot like sun and that may be source of his fire, while his father gave him the strongest body that can constantly get stronger like a zoan more you train it stronger you get. When sanjis two eye brows make sun wukong crown sanji will open a third eye which will give him a third power and i think that will be future sight and wind powers one is for body other is for soul.

Remember Luffy got 2 power ups before Sanji got one in the post TS. Sanji won’t get a power up this soon
Then he will be a scrub. If Sanji doesn't get anything this arc after all the teasing then he is an official scrub. He needs to get something because otherwise this arc is a waste. Do yall remember what you said, what until Sanji actually fight. People are now saying that its okay if we don't see anything. This is not good, we are downing expectations. If Sanji doesn't get a fight and a powerup this arc then this arc is officially a failure for Sanji and we shouldn't be expecting anything else from him for rhe 1st of the series. If Sanji doesnt fight, the sanji community needs to organise mass protests online and petitions.
