I work with trans-identified individuals too. You literally don't read. That is far from an echo-chamber.

Whatever.

You're basically saying my own sources are inferior to your own with your statement. Only what you experience is correct - or what is connected to you.

You really cannot see the forest for the trees because you're so blinded by what you think is 'morally correct'.

I'm done discussing this with you because it's going to become circular. I've made my points.
Egocentrism
:dank:

Perhaps. But egocentrism alone doesn't make one wrong.

So you want me to believe that you are showing to people that transitionning is a lie perpetuated by people who don't "know" and trans people around you are fine with that?

Well that's something...

Let's say that I tend to trust my allies and people who try to understand the complexity of the world more than my adversaries who live in fear of non existent threat. So call it tribalism or whatever, I'll keep listening to them.

You really cannot see the forest for the trees because you're so blinded by what you think is 'morally correct'.
"Am I being blinded?"

This might not look like it because I have a constantly noisy personnality here, but I'm asking myself this question all the time.

Do you?

Not a lie. If you cannot work out what I am saying then that is on you. The issues underpinning the trans-identity are multi-faceted. Everything you feel is real - but it is discovering why - and that is different for many people, and I have had people considering transition reach out to me.

I have one principle I never violate. I never tell anyone I work with what to do. I have had to withdraw when a few wanted me to make choices for them.

Who was it who turned back on something so life consuming again? Yes, I self-reflect and question my biases.

Don't pretend you do. None of us have ever witnessed you budge an inch.

Regardless, you resorted to strawmanning. I'm out.

Sorry yes, forgive me, the "lie" is what people are told to transition..?

Okay well why are we fighting then ??

If you only "believe" that it is a lie but you actually don't tell people what to do and don't tell them that you think society is telling a lie about transitionning, then I have absolutely no problems with what you are doing. Helping people despite your beliefs is amazing.

You are looking at a ball flying toward the opposite direction from you. Of course you will notice very few changes.. Now, if you took the time to look at it from a new perspective, maybe things would be different.

@Roo anyone reading the above without context would probably think I am talking about some nationalist or Bible Thumper

This is why I view the Left as dangerous, it's pretty much just the Upper Middle Class version of the type of Subhuman mob mentality and inability to handle disagreements in rural people

Because you assumed just because I am detrans and believe that most people just need to resolve issues that is causing the desire for transition that I dogmatically force people through coercion into changing their ways. That was your mistake.

For the ones who are considering transition or are currently transitioned, I offer them the other side of the story so they are fully equipped to make whatever decision they want. Since they approached me they already want to know my views, so I give them freely, but I also say that my job isn't to 'de-convert' them or anything. I do not intend to scare them out of their decision, but I don't encourage them to transition or remain as they are either. Consider it me being neutral as I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to dogmatically tell me what to do either when I was transitioned.

Besides, the trans-identity is so deeply ingrained that any attempts to force someone to change isn't going to work. They need to want to not do it themselves before they'll stop. They need to know the true problem before they have a chance to fix it. I also respect that there are some detrans people who just 'settle' for remaining transitoned because they think they either can't go back or it's too much work. It's a complex issue and requires a lot of understanding expertise how to handle in an ethical and productive manner.

If someone tells me: 'I respect you feel that way but being transitioned is the right path for me,' I simply accept this is how they feel and we (ideally) part cordially. I know for certain that I am not the one who is trying to start a fight in those situations. I feel a little sad in my heart because I feel as if I know this mental illness better than most, but I also don't have the power to force people to change their minds. Others have heard my story - done introspection - and months down the line have told me they want to stop transitioning. I ask them if that's what they really want, and if they say yes, I mentor them in approaching such a task.

Ultimately, it appears you heard my experiences and thoughts and assumed me to be a bigot who just wants to deprive people of what they want. I certainly have an end goal, but I have, and never will force people to make decisions. I will not make decisions for them, and trust me, there are a few who can be incredibly codepedent and latch onto any authority figure.

Regardless, let's drop this now. Hopefully you can stop seeing me as well, whatever you were assuming.

I feel leftism is rife with suicidal empathy and saviour complexes.

This was indeed my error. I jumped to the conclusion that it is what you were saying to them. I felt like you were telling me that you were telling people just how bad transitionning was and your belief that it was a lie in order to purpusefully prevent them from transitionning.

From what I could read, and this is my fault for not asking that specific question, you were actively gathering detrans people in order to do that. And the reason why I thought that is because trans people regularily have to face associations that are doing exactly that.

But I have absolutely no problem with a person simply expressing and mentoring their story in order to give more informations. If you felt unheard, you were right, I didn't have the full context and jumped to the conclusion, that is my bad. I'm sorry.

I have a network of detrans people to assist them during the tumult of the initial detrans stage where things feel completely ruined and hopeless.

Ultimately, I am not a 'conversion therapist'. I don't particularly agree with trans anymore (as shown in the above), but as I said in the past, I feel I have more understanding of this topic than a lot of people and am willing to give them the other side of the coin. If they still think it's best for them, then that's on them. I'm not going to attack them - not because I agree with their choice - but because it accomplishes nothing, and me saying something vitriolic will just make them more unstable (it would have destabilised me back in the day).

I do let them know what can go wrong with transition, and how bad it could be, but once again, that is not to force them to change, but it's something you need to be aware about if you're going to live in a state that makes you vulnerable - not just physically, but mentally.

I primarily work with detrans people for the most part, however, or those who wish to detransition/desist from it all. I tell them my views, but once again, I do not try to enforce them. I don't dictate only one way to detransition either. I have even assisted those who believe they made a mistake but have decided to 'settle' in what they are now for simplicity's sake.

I've found quite a lot of people receptive when we have a proper dialogue, person to person, be it via a voice call, video call, or in person.

Regardless, you're forgiven for your mistake, but I would advise you to be careful in making assumptions and jumping to conclusions. It'll make it easier for you to discuss things with people without them getting angry and likely vice versa.

Sometimes confirmation biases helps us, sometimes it does not. In this case it didn't. We have legit reasons to be highly suspicious because - as I told you - a lot of powerfull people and associations are actively fighting to push trans people or future trans people out of the system of health care and we know this has a lot damaging impact. With what you were saying, I couldn't help but have all warnings in the red.

I tried to be empathic but without the knowledge that it was not something you were actively advocating for like you do in this thread, I couldn't fully understand the situation

I now understand why trans people do not jump at you. After all it's a good thing to have people allowing others to have more informations.

I mean, let's be real. Some do. Some trans people absolutely despise any detransitioner because it 'calls into question' transgenderism as a concept, at least, this is how these people feel. And this isn't guesswork, they've told me.

I've been attacked by transgender people before for this, verbally, physically, and in the written form (from being told I am a fake to telling to to kill myself for existing) but I know I am doing good in the world, so I don't let it dissuade me.

Think of it like this. Just like how you jumped to conclusions, many people within the trans community who are overly defensive of the position or trans in general because it's almost developed not just into a personal identity, but a political one as well. Some decide that detransitioners are enemies that must be silenced or attacked. I don't always blame them. Most detransitioners highly disagree with transitioning, and I'm one of them. Some are very traumatised and direct it in a way that isn't helpful for anyone.

It's especially problematic for people like me who are open in their beliefs, because they just load all their negative experiences or paranoia onto me. However, you'll find the worst people for this aren't even trans people. It's the 'allies' who are more dangerous from my experience. They'll stalk you to leak your address online and then try and get people to attack your family. Fortunately, I am not really cowed by mobs - but I am under no delusion that I might get seriously injured or killed for this one day.

Aight, I will stop talking on that though, I might seriously end up doxxing myself if I continue, hahaha.

It's happened to me, it's happened to people I know. I'm just someone who can't really be cowed into silence by mob mentality.
I can understand them, we know detransitioning can lead to suicide and we know the systemic reasons for that, so I can understand their defensive behavior. But just attacking you based on your ideology alone is a liberal thing to do. I'm not trans and I'm a materialist, I consider that situation must be judged within context and in this case, if information is the only thing you give without any form of pressure, I consider it positive rather than negative.

Why are you still believing in this theory?

Something I shared triggered you?

if information is the only thing you give without any form of pressure
Some people consider what I do to be pressure, for to not affirm (nor deny) is enough of an offence in the eyes of extremists. I know for a fact that I have never once told someone: 'You will only be happy if you detransition'.

Can I truly say I've never tried to be persuasive with the information I share? Nah. But I am never dogmatic or forceful with it. The only advice I usually implore people is 'even if you continue, think very carefully on any surgeries.'
