Powers & Abilities Characters being as strong as they need to be is in every series.

The idea that One Piece is somehow the outlier when it comes to PowerScaling and Characters getting stronger seems like "Complaining for the sake of Complaining". Every series from Naruto, to Bleach, DBZ and even JJK and Hunter X Hunter have done it. But why is it different for One Piece?

When did DBZ characters become as strong as they needed to be? Like, Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaozu are bums throughout the series. If Lolda had written DBZ, Yamcha would have dealt damage on Super Buu.

Tien stalled Second form Cell and Piccolo after a week on king kai's planet and fusing with Nail was stronger than Second form Frieza.
Piccolo was relative to the Saiyans until Cell Saga, so that was not "as strong as narrative needed" considering he became a useless bum in Buu saga.

Tien stalled Cell? Come on, that's stretching it. Tien gave it all he got when sneaking against Cell and it still ended with Tien on the ground exhausting himself while Cell was not that injured. How was that stalling? Vista stopping Mihawk until Mihawk postponed with both having no injuries was stalling. Marco stopping Big Mom until she left and both had no injuries was stalling. What Tien did was not stalling.

Piccolo was not anywhere relative to the Saiyans. He was no where as strong as Nappa. Then after a week on King Kia's planet and fusing with Nail, he's able to go toe to toe with Frieza? Just because they need him to be.

Literally Piccolo gave a fight to Frieza's second or third form (the Big muscular one, IIRC) in Namek, how is that not close to the Saiyans when only the Saiyans were any challenge whatsoever to Frieza at Namek?

Piccolo also fought the first Imperfect Cell in that city when Cell first attacked, and it was not like he got no diffed.

The problem with powerscaling is that everyone wants to scale character 1 to character 2. But tier lists are supposed to be that if characters are in the same tier, both can win. All the talk about mid-diff, high-diff, he wins 7 out of 0 and whatever just should be avoided. If they fight, both can win.

People love inventing a new tier when a character defeats another character, or shows one cool move, but that's not how it's suppose to work.
And if a character is a tier highter, doesn't mean he can suddenly avoid all attack or is immune to a lower tier.
A toddler could hit me in the face and give me a noosebled with a sneak attack, but it doesn't mean I suddenly have to go mid-diff to knock him out.

Roger, Shanks, Mihawk, the old Yonko, Imu, Luffy are all just Top Tier.
Some might look better then the other, because they have hax powers that need to be understand first, and some might have lost because of plot convenience, but Luffy will probably beat Imu this arc regardless.

Exactly Piccolo fought Second Form Freiza a month after losing to Nappa by Fusing. How is that not, getting stronger simply because he needed to be?

Because there is an explanation, lol. Whether or not you think it's good enough is another matter
I don’t think it’s a good comparison. The characters get stronger as they travel the seas in OP, and the rest is about resolve and willpower of the characters. There are limits tot hat explanation but nothing feels contrarian to this approach.

DBZ can do the same. Off screen training

I agree that it's not a good comparison.

Piccolo trained after death and absorbed a Namekian fighter before confronting Frieza, though. It's obvious that Namek's absorption is a great power boost (as Piccolo's fight against Imperfect Cell and Android 17 also showed). This is so unlike Hajrudin fight against Imu.
