@soupongo Sakazuki is a hard fit to put, as he easily comes off as both someone who can be extraordinarily racist or someone who doesn't care what they are as long as they follow Justice.

Agreed, I remember the Gorosei saw jimbei being a warlord as very good for fishmen/human relations, I imagine a very dedicated fishmen marine would do the same, but it would be a betrayal of other oppressed peoples in OP...

The Gorosei called Jinbe's defection a great loss cause he was a great middle man for Fishmen. Akainu also asked Jinbe multiple times to stand down unlike everyone else.

The marines are a racist organization. The giant squad are all kidnapped and human trafficked children. No snakenecks, no long arms, no minks, and definitely no fishmen could be part of their ranks. The Marine probably helped keep the auction house going.

It's something that the Gorosei could have done after Jinbei became a warlord and Otohime's talks with the Celestial Dragons, offer to make a deal with Fishman Island kingdom to recruit fishmen as marines as part of the improved relations between humans and fishmen.
