  • I Think Oda has been trying a new art style in Elbaf. He is rounding the edges, shortening the proportions. Perhaps Oda wants the One Piece cast to feel a bit younger.

I believe it's related to the Gear 5 appearance, it could be a choice he made there. But there is definitely a shift. It's has been a long time since we had such shift. It could be interesting to analyse it in detail

That sounds gay and retarded on Odas part, ngl

No, it's logical. We enter a much more cartoonish part of the story where the exaggeration and the realism is about to take a backseat.
How can one man's takes be so based on one topic (One Piece), but so cringe on another (you know what I'm referring to). Maybe your takes in THAT thread are also based and I'm just not enlightened enough yet to see it?

When you read a story it goes BOTH ways : the author shares his vision, but you will ALSO share your own biases & interpretations to understand it. Do not forget it.

It's fine to want side characters to be a little more relevant so long as they don't take up too much screentime.

Yes. I don't mind that. I myself would love to see some characters more, Carrot, Yamato, Shaka, Kizaru, Smoker, Sabo, Dragon etc. I even started writing and imagining stories for some. But I'm not Oda, and I don't know what the current story needs. I know that sometimes, my desire and the good of the story do not align and I can recognize it because I don't put too much weight on these expectations.

But people have a hard time doing that. They stopped being surprised. Their chase of theories and powerscaling feats made them reluctant to actual subversions. I know it because I felt it with the Agenda of Carrot. I know that if I didn't made the active job to detach myself from the agenda , I would have ranted nastly for DAYS. So I get it, but it's ruining everyone's fun.
You are NOT the characters. They have their OWN desires, strengths, needs and weaknesses. The parasocial bond that you create with agendas makes you forget it.
Today, Oda would be trashed on for Killing Ace in the way he did it and it would take weeks before someone finally explain why it happened and why it's great.

But what I see are not critics. I see the result of the subversion of expectation. Something that over the years, has been transformed from enjoyment to hate
Critics are essential, but when you are projecting yourself too FAR in the writing, you stop being a reader and you start being a writer. So, be a writer.
"I wanted to see" "I expected to see" "I think it should be like..." "It's badly written" - Write your damn own story or learn to be surprised and accept surprises
I'm pretty sure that I could scale the level of OP understanding of any OPfan based on their vision of Dragon, Sanji, Vegapunk, Oden and Harald.

    That’s fun, do me.

Dislike Dragon for barely being in the story
    Sanji’s okay
Vegapunk, Oden and Harold are pretty badly executed

This is not the first time I see these bad takes from you. But I'd say it's pretty consistent. Seems to me like you are missing the subtilities of some of the characters as their greatness lies in their subtilities (or you do not care about them). I can't say much more without reasons so I wanna be sure: how would you view Sanji in whole cake and Wano?

Basically what TAC said although I think Sanji's the best character imo
Wow what the F happened with OPM season 3?
Fun fact, Usopp's fear, Zoro's cut, Sanji's power etc.. are very similar to Luffy's gear 5. They are influenced by how the character see the world.>>

What this means is that if Usopp thinks something is scary, he will be scared, but strangely, you will find him jump into the ocean of cloud without a hint of fear when it's actually ULTRA dangerous. Or play with mygals for ex.
People really have to stop with this idea that the anime spoils the manga. It never happened.

Nah. People are simply reaching and interprating everything. But in reality it's just the anime having fun making cool visual. There is absolutely no reason or interests for Oda to spoil anything when scans are guarded like sacred relics. It's just that some interpretation are bound to be true because OP is a giant story.

Okay... The anime still spoils battles which happen later on in the same arc. Not that I mind much but I guess that's what the people criticised about???

The anime will often spoil yeah, but only the future of the anime (usually up to a few month ahead), not the current manga timeline. But things like "the anime spoiled Joyboy being lunarian or Kyoshiro being denjiro or stuff like that, never happened. It's simply the anime having fun with visuals and sometimes being instinctively good enough to make visual that go with the timeline of the manga
I know you don't believe me when I say this. But you won't discover OP twice in your life. This experience is too unique. Don't waste it to troll or hate..
You who voted 6 or lower to OP. I genuinely want you to enjoy the story. Please, drop the manga for now. Take it all in later. It will change your perspective.
I hope you understand fully, how this reading context can influence the way you read One Piece and your appreciation of the story
