Yes, indeed. You cannot use the argument that CoC separates you from "pure" swordsmen. It's the opposite; you have to expect advanced CoC stuff from the WSS. But since Oda still keeps up some rivalry between Shanks and Mihawk (even giving them the same birthday and panel time), he wants the fan base to argue about who is stronger between them, so I don't think Oda will make Mihawk stronger in every domain.

Both Mihawk and Shanks should have extremely powerful Hakis in all 3 domains, while both have their individual strengths. So I believe Shanks' CoC will be stronger while Mihawk's CoA will be stronger. While Mihawk also has more powerful swordsmanship, with us knowing swordsmanship is among the most powerful, if not most powerful abilities. With Mihawk also having advanced CoC anyways.

But now we have Zoro whose entire character arc revolves around surpassing Mihawk..every other worldly feat he shows..every advanced CoC he shows..in the back of his mind it is all journey to ultimate destination that is Mihawk

@Red Admiral while I agree Shanks' CoC is probably stronger, he isn't on another tier as compared to Mihawk. I have it more like "Shanks' CoC is slightly stronger than Mihawk's, Mihawk's CoA is slightly stronger than Shanks'). Oda portrays them as 2 sides of the same coin. And Mihawk probably edges Shanks out due to Shanks sacrificing his arm. Prime Shanks with both arms ~ Mihawk.

Mihawk refuses to fight Shanks because when Shanks had both arms, they were equal, rivaling each other. With Shanks sacrificing his arm and thus strength, he fell under Mihawk, even if not by much due to adapting to his one arm. But there would be no point in this sacrifice, if Shanks remained as strong or even got stronger.

Shishio is right. Everything Zoro has, Mihawk has by default on a greater scale, until Zoro catches up. Mihawk is the WSS, rivaling Shanks and Zoro's end goal. It's actually Shanks who gained fame fighting Mihawk, and their battles shook the grand line, even Whitebeard talks about it.
