Uncle VanYeah DS lore is convoluted as fuck lol. Favorite part is probably Velka who I believe was 100% human.
Elder Lee Hung@Sentinel Nameless King is actually not canonically stronger than Gwyn, it’s largely an assumption that he is stronger than Gwyn based on the fact that he is the deific embodiment of strength and might among the Gods while Gwyn is not, but there is no canonical source that implies he is stronger than Gwyn. But Gwyn absolutely loved the Nameless King for his strength lol
Sentinel@Fleet Admiral Lee Hung Well, Nameless King is Gwyn's brother anyway, so it's not farfetched to think he is the better fighter overall due to battle experience, knowledge, physical strength and so on, while Gwyn might be stronger as an individual in general.
Elder Lee Hung@Sentinel Nameless King is Gwyn’s firstborn Son, not his brother lol. Partly why Gwyn was so proud of him as he carried Gwyn’s blood and became the most incredible dragon slayer in history. But I think Gwyn’s soul probably held more power than the King’s while the King was purely stronger in combat.
Uncle VanIt is implied that the Nameless King is Gwyn's Son who was exiled thanks to the Sunlight Blade description. Also believed his name is Faraam.
SentinelSee, that's the part which I obviously mixed up lol.
Overall, it's probably Gwyn > Nameless King but in terms of fighting skill, it's most likely NK > Gwyn. On the other hand, Gwyn is very powerful too...
Sentinel@Van Nah, I'm still not that familiar with the whole cycles, all I know is that Gwyn apparently started the whole eternal cycle stuff, is that true?
Elder Lee HungThe cycles were started by nature. The Age of Fire was prolonged by Gwyn and the Lords of Cinder but no one begins or ends the ages technically.
Elder Lee HungAll of Dark Souls is a series about attempts to prolong/end the age of Fire depending on what philosophy the player acts on.
SentinelSo basically, someday the nature thought "Fuck humanity" and basically summoned the apocalypse?
Uncle Van@Sentinel no evidence for that but my theory is that there's an internal cycles of light(gods), dark(humans) and nothingness(dragons). According to Kaathe, it's the law of nature and Gwyn defied nature by extending his age which linked fire to humanity.
Uncle VanBecause of Gwyn, humans have it the worst since their age is beginning and ending at the same time when the fire starts to fade. Humans gain power since their age is starting but is simultaneously at a high risk of hollowing since the age of nothingness is approaching.
Sentinel@Van So that's how humans basically became undeads then? Because the MC in DS can restore his humanity with some orbs.
Uncle Van@Sentinel Basically. In the age of nothingness(start of DS1 intro), everyone is a hollow. But since its also the age of man because of Gwyn, humans can absorb humanity and souls to maintain their power and shave off hollowing.
Elder Lee HungHumans became undead because of the Darksign that Gwyn branded them with. In his attempts to repress their humanity (darkness) he actually made them into undead on accident. The Way of White also eventually learned how to produce undead, see that Hawkshaw video I posted yesterday lol.
Uncle VanWhat Lee said also lol. Because of the natural cycle being distorted because of gwyn, humans have to deal with going hollow the most. Also because he branded humans, turned them into undead which in turn, put humans at an even higher risk of hollowing.
Elder Lee HungGwyn’s philosophies are not completely incorrect lol. Oolacile was absolutely destroyed by the Dark, so was New Londo. Gwyn resisted nature’s course not because he lusted for power, but because he was legit that scared of humans lol.
