Just seen the clip of where doc q gave luffy the apple that had a chance to explode and one of the comments blew my mind.
What if that was a method doc q was hunting devil fruits. So if a fruit user ate an exploding apple not only would he blow up the power transfers to the nearest fruit which would have been in doc qs bag of apples. They could have had the gomu gomu no mi if luffy wasnt lucky lol.
