yes that is why i think too in other words your haki has to be stronger than your DF to awaken so you can conquer it and awaken it, or basically you control its ability at your will.

it is CoC haki it was done only twice , Zoro and Kid were confirmed like that to have CoC haki in the anime before they were shown to be use it in the manga, Kid was confirmed to have in the manga and he didn't display it till now at least not clearly

well maybe it is possible who knows, if that get confirmed it will be against Shanks crew. and maybe it will be confirmed with combination with CoC haki as well.
